Can't go wrong with black mage.
Doing critical Fire III is fun.
Despite of the above, extreme mode primals always look for ranged dps instead of melee dps cos it is much easier. Even if that means no melee LB, but gear can make up for it.
Ranged DPS is easier... "fun" wise for me is Smn > Brd > Blm
Melee DPS has a paper potential to be stronger (I think)... "fun" wise for me is Mnk > Drg
Tanking is generally boring... War has more to do than Pld
Healing can be interesting... Sch (i think) has more micro / more to do than Whm
ZeroRains pretty much nailed it, Different Jobs have different strengths, a healthy mix of DPS Jobs makes a stronger raid than stacking.I just wanted to see everyone's views and opinions regarding DPS classes at end game. What DPS class would you say is best to choose if I want to do consistent damage and at the same time enjoy? I currently have a Monk, Dragoon and Bard all close to level 50 but I am not sure which one to focus on fully at end game.
I also do not see alot of Monks at end game, is there a reason for this?
The reason you don't see too many Monks around is due to the positional requirements making general play a bit trickier than some other jobs.
Losing access to either side for a Monk is a massive DPS drop. We don't hit half as hard unless we're in the right position. Losing Chaos Thrust and Disembowel drops your damage, but not near as much as being forced to attack from front because your Tank refuses to pull a boss out of its AoE (Copperbell hard, i hate most Tanks in this place.) Losing Heavy Thrust is annoying also, but again, you're still hitting with potency 200 - 330. So you're still hitting harder than a Monk without positional bonuses.I find that an iffy statement. While it's true that Monks need to regularly switch between rear and flank for optimal damage, Dragoons can't use their Impulse Drive combo at all if they can't get behind their enemy for some reason. Monks just end up suffering from weaker attacks, rather than being completely locked out from a major debuff and DoT. :/ That said... I'd imagine a Monk who positions himself badly is going to mess up his DPS pretty hard. Those bonuses aren't particularly small, to be truthful.
Its bad for both Jobs to lose access to Flank/behind, but Monk definitely takes it harder :/

Tanking in this game is a joke. The fact that the majority fail at it is really scary imo.
My pld is only ilvl 76 but I regular pull things off of tanks ilvl85+. Why? Apparently a three move combo is to hard for most plds.
If your only doing your 3 move combo your doing it wrong
Most of the time, most fights, outside of Scorn and Spirits, that's realy all you do except cooldown when needed. And if you don't need Scorn for multiple mobs, and Spirits for Silence, you throw those in. That's really all it is. And as he said, I can pull of better geared tanks because I know what i'm doing.
If you pull mobs off of tanks that are better geared at any time except the portions of fights which necessitate tank swaps... I would very much say you don't know what you're doing.
