BRD will always be useful in any situation even if you completely ignore support mechanics. A BRD "can" match the DPS of other classes if played correctly, and considering the skill needed on BRD compared to other jobs to maximize DPS as well and the ability to have 100% uptime compared to other jobs often a good BRD will surpass your avg player on any other job. At the point of when players achieve such skill at their job that the difference in BRD and other jobs is noticeable then it won't even matter what setup you are using you will be able to clear that content w/o any issues whether it is w/o BRD at all or if you are stacking 4 BRDs. That is even in spite of the much slower charging LB gauage as SE has designed EVERY battle to be able to completed w/o the LB.

W/o the use of songs BRD is still a full DPS job and when using songs then BRD is making up for the lack of dmg by supporting the rest of the party. Songs are simply meant to be used the same way CDs are, in tough fights you save CDs for when you need them except BRD is able to save for something other than just burst mechanics.
