Despite its flaws, i like this game a lot

I'm going to be completely honest, I don't ever see myself paying monthly for 14 unless it becomes drastically epic from now till then. I would pay to play XI again in a heart beat if I end up disliking the direction the game starts to head in after the revamping processes are done.

Lets be honest, most of us are here just because its still free to play monthly and we want to see how Yoshi-P goes about in fixing the biggest fail in MMO history. The game still has great potential despite the state its in but time is ticking, I think if the game isn't in a good state by the time Guild Wars 2 releases its not going to be pretty.

I'm not a fan of Guild Wars, I don't follow it but a modern MMO that is going to be free to play monthly after the box cost is going to hit everyone extremely hard, heck its gonna even punch Blizzard in the face.

Would I pay to play XIV?

When it first came out - Absolutely not.

Now - Yes.

I'm happy with the way XIV is going. To me, it's improved quite a bit since September. I may not agree with all the changes happening, but there's is always somethings I don't like in each game. Keep it up SE!

To be honest I think the people giving their ideas on what the game should be are hurting it more than SE is, and SE is hurting the game by trying to please everyone. I hope they remember at some point that it's impossible to please everyone, and while opinions are good there is a point where they have to say 'we need to do what WE need to do to get this game done', stay on course and finish this game.

I do not mean to dismiss the point that the are many things that can be improved in the game.
Neither am I dismissing the people who are unhappy with how FF14 is now.

But here on the forums we often hear from people who are disappointed with the game.

The people we mostly don't hear from are the ones who are happily playing the game now.

If SE is listening, then they are getting an imbalanced view of how people feel and what needs to be done.

I hope they realize this fact.

The game sucks. Fact.

All you can do is grind by doing leves/behest.
Equips sucks big time. (visual and stats wise - Mages use the same robe from 1 to 50)
NMs are too easy.
No content at all.
Sidequests are pathetic. Even WoW ones are better.
Party play is depressing.

The next patch will be SE's last attempt to save the game. At least to me.
If they *** this up, then i'll just go ahead and uninstall it.

8 f'ing months and still no Delivery box/mail.
Can't kick/invites members that are not next to you.

Yea, great game!

If you are still playing this "unique" game, to me it means one of 3 things:
1- You just started
2- You got nothing better to do
3- You are a SE fanboy

I'd rather have a FFXI-2 than what we have today, cause at least i'd be playing something.

I very much agree with you!

Even with the faults of the game, people that do enjoy the game of believe the game will get better and are willing to stick around are in the game so you are going to have an unbalance when it comes to the posts on forums. While there are issues with the game I just tend to keep a positive outlook until SE gives me a reason not too, the game is making steady improvement and that is evident. I am glad they are working on the base of the game before adding content etc, because if you don't fix the base how can it support the rest of the game in a proper -functioning- way.

Unfortunately it is a very balanced view, as the people who are unhappy far outnumber the people who are happy. Take the unhappy people that still play out of the game and the game would die. The happy people are not enough to keep this game alive. SE needs to make the unhappy people happy for this game to survive unfortunately.

The Question would be how to make people happy, because people are pissed for opposite reasons.

Half the people are rage quitting because it is not XI, half because it is not WoW.

Some say the game is way to easy with nothing that gives the feeling of accomplishment, some say it is nothing but a horrible grind with to many time sinks and it lack everything that is casual.

SE needs to try to make as many people happy without driving away their fanbase that is still watching/playing the game. The game cannot survive without the fanbase support... its image is too tarnished to attract enough mainstream players now.

Ask anyone who plays mmos but are not playing XIV what are you waiting more for GW2 or the revamped XIV.... I bet 49/50 of those people say GW2. Why would SE design the game for the portion of the fanbase that will just bail... How many tro...Disgruntled players(sorry) keep posting I can't wait for Tera/GW2/ToR to come out. Why should SE make a game for someone who will not stay anyways.

Square cannot afford to lose the FF fanboys, but probably cannot afford to lose all of the mainstream genre players either. But I would say atm the potential subs is much higher in the fanboys category then mainstream... even if mainstream outnumbers the FF fanboys 50 to 1.

In short SE cannot make this FFXI-2 they cannot make this WoW-2.... in both those cases the game will fail. It has to make the existing and lost fanbase happy, and then try to get some of the mainstream.
