Wow, that article was published on 2012. I thought it was talking about this board, lol! Here is an interesting article: Content Locust
I tend to help people which helps keep the game fresh. And make some friends along the way. When I get bored I help out others who repeatly shout for help.
Then play Pokemon Y then? @.@ Some people think that since they don't like the game OTHER people have to follow in the same way of thinking. I happen to like the the direction the game is going. ( Yes I do hope that Extreme is where they cut the modes) but I do like the fact that we are getting different tier modes for all kinds of players.
Also if you follow the story, you'll know exactly why you keep seeing " the same primal over and over just more powerful".
They have said the Extreme will be the highest mode ever and the with each new primal we will get BOTH hard AND extreme modes. ( In other words you won't see rehashed primals anymore from 1 update to the next). Dungeons ( hard mode counterpart) aren't rehashed since the Dungeon layout is different.

It's getting dull for me. I now play the waiting game a lot. Queue for Garuda EM for over an hour, party wipes, they leave after 5 minutes. Rinse and repeat.
I can't even get into Thornmarch, no one is interested.
But Coil is keeping me interested a bit.
It's only dull for me when I'm waiting for DF or DR. Wait times for DPS are still bad. I've been working on my tanking to help with that, though. So while I see it as a problem, I'm actively working on a way to address it.
This is new content though, you can't expect the majority of playerbase to clear it consistently in just over 2 weeks of the content release. Back when they first released hard mode primals too, people took a while before pugging Garuda HM had a high success rate. Currently, you might see higher pug clear rates on Titan HM, compared to a month or two ago, although this could also be partly because of the improvement to the position checking delay, which means less Landslide deaths to lag.
I am rather enjoying the new content myself however. I have been occupying myself learning how to play a healer. It is definitely much more fun than what I first expected. Crystal Tower is a really fun instance too. And I am really enjoying the new HM dungeons. Pharos Sirius was a pain as a healer, but I'm planning to try and tackle it again soon. I've yet to do Pharos Sirius or Copperbell Mines HM as a tank (my main class) however, so I'll have to give that a go sometime.
However, in terms of gear progression, there really isn't much motivation for me to chase gear upgrades. For example, Ultima Choker of Fending does give slightly more VIT than Darklight Choker of Fending, however its other stats are rather bad for a tank, compared to what Darklight Choker of Fending would give me (the main stat on the DL Choker is Accuracy, and it has 2 more Parry than the Ultima Choker of Fending). The new i90 Paladin weapon from completing the 3 Extreme Primals pales in comparison to Curtana (which I am probably not going to +1). It does seem that 2.1 seems to be more of a gear farming patch for the eventual vanity slots that will be coming in 2.2, however as it stands I do not want to collect gear, since both my retainers are filled to the brim, and a lot of the Primal weapons I collected simply as trophies for completing the various HM Primals many times can't be stored in the Armoire, or discarded. I also see 2.1 as more of a patch for people to play alternate classes, which is definitely fun seeing as each class plays different from the others. Farming Ultima or Extreme Primals on alt classes also allow you to get higher leveled accessories for those classes, which also work in conjunction with the weekly i80 loot you can get from CT.

One thing I don't understand is how people fear the game will become a ghost town. I've seen this mentioned several times. I see no signs of this, there are people literally everywhere. Both high level, mid level and low level. I've been doing a fair share of recruiting for our FC, and since we aim for a casual atmosphere we draw a lot of new players to us. Which tells me there are new players joining constantly, and by the looks of it several of them enjoy the game enough to keep playing. Just because some people have basically finished the game, played all it has to offer, doesn't mean the cities and the fields will be empty.
In fairness,
I play EVE Online, after 3 months or so I get sick of it. (took 8 years to get this way though)
I play Lord of the Rings Online, after 3 months I get sick of it.
I've been playing ARR for around 3 months.
Tera lasted about 3 months,
DAoC lasted about 3 months,
FF14 1.00 was 3 months stints. Any of the other 50+ MMO's I played most had a 3 month shelf life.
FF14 is one of a list of 5 that I actually come back to though. It's still one of the prettiest MMO's I have ever played. It's just kind of shallow.
The game allows me to run around as much as I desire. I've been running around in a circle for months now and I'm not close to finished. Maybe you should not have rushed through the game, I havent even finished the intro tutorial.
