    竜騎士

    Dragon Riding Samurai

Fun fact: All classes in FF end with 士 (meaning samurai).
    Side note: Classes, not jobs

Just like, the word, "apple", in pineapple means apple but a pineapple obviously is not an apple.
    This the best I've got

士 - military man, suffix for profession

I was simply pointing out it isn't called, "Dragon Knight". At least, not in this game it isn't.

From what I found through search, 騎士(Kishi) = Knight, and the character that comes before it is 竜(Ryū) meaning Dragon.
Interesting. A break down of the characters had me in the wrong spot. Dragon-Calvary(riding)-profession(samurai/warrior counter) for Dragoon. Which is weird considering Paladin is just Knight (ナイト).

The Dragoon (竜騎士, Ryūkishi, lit. "Dragon Knight"), also localized as Dragon Knight or Lancer, is a recurring Job in the Final Fantasy series. First appearing in Final Fantasy II, they have become one of the most famous and iconic job classes of the series.
From what I found through search, 騎士(Kishi) = Knight, and the character that comes before it is 竜(Ryū) meaning Dragon.
