People acting differently based on city-state is a cool inclusion, and it's a very cool attention to detail. Thing is, I just don't see any other would-be prostitutes in the game, though obviously there'd be a demand for them.

Some people just need big girls with muscles and blue skin, I'm sure. Anyway, there is definitely a lot going on that we aren't exposed to, which I'm hoping we learn more about as the game releases more and more updates. I'm excited for the future, when it comes to that.

Apologies for not having a fully thought-out post, I just never really bother because of the pesky character limit. So, I edit and make an actual post from there, haha. It's not a habit I particularly enjoy having, but I'd probably have it even if there wasn't a limit. I always go back and add things, or reword them, or change the order of topics around.

    *ahem*
Because you don't know where to look. In the golden bazaar there are some Hyur and Elezen girls- Although it's based on text NPCs say when you run by, you certainly did not notice (although there is this one FATE)
Dancer alone, a Roegadyn is part of the dance crew in Costa del Sol, seen during the MSQ there when you need to fetch the missing dancers.
Hell, the current chief of the miner's guild (who's a Highlander) once too spent her time on the dance floor of the the very guild she now leads.

Don't take this wrong, some of those details are easy to miss, specifically since catgirls are just easier to see in those roles, period. I just figured you'd enjoy some more knowledge

    Also Thancred is shameless, btw.

In all seriousness, while I am not asking for this to be FFXI-II, it's a bit saddening to see that compared to the Mithra, the Miqo'te have little to garner respect for. The Mithra, while having the most asinine legal system ever (Sin Hunters), were a far cry from strippers and entertainers. I guess it just feels like they're treating the scantily-clad catgirls as scantily-clad catgirls.
Miqo'te had a LOT of time to integrate themselves into Eorzean society as a whole.

Compare that to the fact that the Mithra were only brought along en masse twenty years prior to the present game. Nevermind that gender roles sort of vanished due to the low number of males, leaving the females to do the fighting, hunt and everything in between. You're not going to see a massive change in their society or niches for them within the greater whole in one generation.

Miqo'te on the other hand have been around for a couple of centuries, which is plenty of time for them to kind of work their way into the greater society. As mentioned earlier, there is also city state customs to keep in mind.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, I smirked when I saw that part.

To add my own annecdote, I recall a quest in 1.0 for a love potion/soup that a female Miqo'te had me gather ingredients for because she wanted to get into the pants of some lalafell. I was hoping to see the results of her efforts in ARR, but alas have not.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I was vacationing in Costa again last night and noticed, on one of the beach platforms, a proud silver-haired Lalafel boasting to a modestly-dressed Miqo'te lass, that he'd been "quite successful" or somesuch (hem, hem) in his fifty-five years...

Also as a traditional conspiracy theorist in character, I note in passing that (1) the Lalafels seem to be in charge of *everything*, behind the scenes and (2) Miqo'te girls are either dancers, servers, assistants, or they are unique independents, with no in-between (other than the example of Forgotten Springs) - Y'Shtola, K'Hylia, the Armorer's Guild Mistress...

(Note I've only been playing since October and haven't advanced past Brayflox's Longstop yet, story-wise)

Makes me suspect a secret Lalafel Syndicate trafficking in Miqo'te females, it does. Oh dear...

Oh there are quite a few random miqo'te in duties that are just... Normal. Mostly in gridania, surprisingly, as part of the Wood Wailers and (I forget the name of the archer branch of their military). A good deal of the female pirates of Limsa are also miqo'te

Seekers make sense when you consider that their main alternative for heterosexual kitty girls is to stay home and only get laid when their bi-monthly slot with the nunh comes up; since the only qualification to be the nunh is to defeat a previous one in battle you'll also just have to pray he doesn't smell weird and is somewhat okay in bed.

Given that, prostitution probably doesn't seem like a bad alternative. I mean, if he smells weird at least you're getting paid.

Aren't the dancers in Costa brought in from Ul'dah? I though the lallafell who owns everything there was from Ul'dah and was basically trying to bring in the "comforts" of home.

    Yay!

Also, the ALC storyline is great! I love the resolution.
And yes, I would like to see more storyline/lore about relationships between the races/species.

This is my own reaction, but just .. no. Seekers make sense in that the harem structure of their society would teach them that their sexuality is solely for the nunh / head male .. that it is something at the discretion of someone else and outside their control. In that sense, for Seekers who leave their tribe and have no idea how to relate to others sexually, at least they are getting paid. For Seekers still in their tribe, it seems prostitution would be taboo as a snub to the nunh.
Of course, this is making assumptions about how prostitution is handled in the city-states - particularly that it is male controlled and, while legal, is stigmatized. Without those assumptions, it would only make sense for Seekers if they are rebelling against their tribal behavior.

    But that is off-thread topic..
