I use a PS3 myself, and have yet to experience any crashes since 2.1.
Maybe it's just to certain models, or how old they are?

My slim Model dates back 3 Christmas Seasons and has been crashing 1 or more times a day since 2.1. I just followed the video linked above and will report back tomorrow or monday about performance changes (if any).
its getting hot
Lots of people in our FC have their PS3's freeze too.
Do you have the original PS3, or the new one?
I use a fat PS3 upgraded with SSD on the same day 2.1 was released. The console froze at least once daily, but for two days now everything has been running really smoothly, so hoping this keeps up!
Add my name to the list. My newish, slim, SSD upgraded PS3 has started freezing since the patch. About 1-2 times a day.
Lots of people locking up on PC as well. Something is off with the patch and causing issues but it seems to be very random.
I had several freezes yesterday, but they all occurred after I ran Crystal Tower so I think it might be the source of the issue. But yes, PS3 games seem to have memory leaks, installed ones especially. You'd think people would have figured how to avoid them by now.
I have two friends playing on a PS3, one seems to be having many issues with freezing and locking up. The other doesn't. My first friend downloaded the 2.1 on release day, the other only downloaded it yesterday... he hasn't played for a few weeks :/ just wonder if it was the initial wave of downloads that had the bug????
As for myself I've been playing on an average spec laptop and i have no issues apart from the obvious lag in densely populated areas
Kinda doubt that's it - I downloaded the patch before servers were even back up for playing, and went about 2 or 3 days without the freezing started, and then it possibly-not-coincidentally started once I'd at least dipped my toe into most of the new stuff, and didn't feel a driving need to Do All The Things, and started hanging out in Gridania more.
Yesterday when I played I made the conscious decision to stay out of town as much as possible, and again didn't freeze. Could be coincidence, could be my PS3 trying to crap out (although it's not that old) and getting overheated in stressful areas, could be that there's a problem with the patch/Starlight update, and whatever it is is (mostly) in cities.
