PS3 Freezing

By the way for those that are curious, a solid state drive does make an incredible difference for the PS3. If you feel like improving the game until it comes out for PS4 in April, or if you just have no plans for a PS4 in the first place, this is a great alternative. It makes load times PC-like with no hiccups.

I used a Seagate Momentus XT SDD+HDD hybrid for my fat model 40GB PS3, so that's what I recommend since you can damage your PS3 with certain ones that are just too much on the system.

Considering the ps3 misses the required controller to take the full advantage of an SSD, a hybrid should function just fine. It might give you some quicker loading times and or quicker installation of files, however the data is not very conclusive and differs per game. It is also good to note down that other then installation and loading, having an SSD or Hybrid in the ps3 will not make any real difference during actual in game performance. the only real noteable difference is pop ups.

I'm not sure what you're counting as performance exactly.

EDIT: Sorry for derailing the thread a bit. But I did notice crashing being rather frequent after 2.1, it's pretty abnormal even for PS3.

I'm also getting crashed a lot more since the 2.1 patch. I had freezing issues when it was first released but then it was fixed and now, we're right back to freezing everytime i play. I've even been getting a lot of lag spikes which has caused death many of times in fates having boss focused enmity. Not sure if this is from the patch or just on my end. I ordered a new route/modem in hopes this issue will be resolved since 2.1 has really made me love this game. Well except for the issues stated of course.

Just came to say the same thing has been happening to me since 2.1 as well. PS3 has frozen up at least 3 times since the patch.

I never froze before 2.1 and now my ps3 does. It's happened twice while I was teleporting from revenants toll to gridania and once in ct.

Well, just had a weird 'crash' where the game fades to black as if I logged off (where the next thing you would see is the XIV log-in webpage), and then next thing I see is the PS3 XMB.

Mine started freezing up a lot in Coerthas after I installed an SSD in it. It's weird that it only happens on that map though, it hasn't happened anywhere else.

It happened to me too. I teleported from uldah to hotizon. It froze.

mine froze also twice while in the game and yet I can play disc base games and be on netflix for hours on end with out it. Plus this didn't happen to me until i updated to patch 2.1
