Just adding my two cents, I've also had my PS3 freeze three times yesterday, and I think one other time since the 2.1 patch. Doing a quick search I found a couple threads on GameFAQs that they've started freezing since the patch.

It's still a small enough sample size that it *could* just be dirty/overheating PS3s, and it's a coincidence that it's been happening since the patch (or the patch is just putting that liiittle extra stress on the console)... or it could be some inherent bugginess in the patch itself causing PS3s to freeze.

For my own part, I think every time I was either in Gridania or zoning out of Gridania.

My PS3's handled far busier and far more graphically stressing enviroments on XIV before 2.1 and not crashed, done that Highbridge FATE a few times during peak hours and its been fine with all the players/animations on screen.
The two times is crashed in last 24hrs have been low populated areas, so far less stressing then 30 players throwing magic around :/

As for my hardware, its a Slim Line PS3 (one of the last self loading disk drive non crap slim lines) that was new in April this year, also has a SSD drive in there since the original struggled with XIV, been running smooth and fine for a few months.

So I'm thinking its a bug in the patch myself.

    EDIT: (saving posts for today)

Yeah the SSD really does help with load times, I often find I've loaded into instances a few seconds before the rest of team, also I keep beating my PC mate through zone loading screens lol. I'd seriously suggest getting one if you cant afford a PS4 ready for XIV's release.
