FFXIV on Nintendo WII U

The Wii U is a console. They showed only the controller because that is the main innovation of the WII U. There was no purpose showing off the console itself as people don't really care for specs anymore.

I see a lot of people are still confused with how this will work and well you can think of it as an upgraded WII, better grpahics with HD support and enhanced online capabilities. So you can use all your WII remote, accessories and Wii games with it but the main attraction is the new controller which is basically an IPAD that interacts with the main console.

Why i think it would fit well for FFXIV? Imagine having your actions bars on that screen while seeing your character on the TV. You can manage your inventory and any other menus from the controller, Chat on the controller, use it as a virtual keyboard, crafting mini game would happen on the controller too etc... There's a LOT of possibilities.

There was a part of the conference where they pointed the controller at the TV screen and you had a sort of augmented reality effect with additional info of what was shown on the screen. Imagine pointing it at players ingame and see their job, level and maybe equipment without having to right click on them or anything, same goes for monsters.

Once you understand how it all works and it's possibilities, the new Nintendo console is pretty exciting.

SE would be fools not to try to port FFXIV on as many platforms as possible, this is how MMOs should work and the new WII U would be an excellent choice, not only because it's a brand new console but because of the options it gives them.

I know what it is, it's a hybrid that is basically a tablet computer, traditional controller, a portable gaming console. I know they were only showing the controller and not the actual system, which basically looks like a white box. But why do I want to hold a controller that is the size of an ipad constantly, even if I'm not using the screen on the controller for the game? I can see how it might be interesting, but at the moment I don't find much interest in it. We will have to see what kind of games come out and how the huge controller interacts with each game. If they don't make that huge controller and screen have genuine purpose in each game that is relevant to the game play, in the end you're just holding a huge controller. We will see how it develops.

Funny thing is, I could see PS3+Vita being able to do a very similar thing. I certainly wouldnt mind the action bar on a Vita

the new console it only have 512 flash memory so i don't think ffxiv could be on it not everyone going to update there flash memory just to play a online game.

Not if FFXIV come with a 40GB flash memory to put for your new wii but unlikely to happen.

Nintendo sucked at E3 this year.

Unfortunately, they sucked less than the other two. It's been a sad couple years for gaming unless you're Valve.

And you figured that the Wii U is for children how? Which part of it is aimed at children again? Was it the HD graphics that surpass the PS3 and 360? Or was it the abilities to use the wii remote with it? (which put it on par with the PS3's lolipop remote) Or was it the new controller that has a touch screen, motion sensing, gyroscope, camera, mic, speaker and can stream video from the console? ORRRR... was it the hardcore games like darksider II, asssassin's creed, the new zelda game?

I'm sorry i fail to understand what exactly is for children only in there...

Did you see the footage of Ninja Gaiden 3 for the Wii U? Did that look like a kid's game?

Sega already tried the "Nintendo games are for kids" line back in the 90's. How's their latest console doing these days?

probably not and i've just checked gamespot and the WII U's storage can also be upgraded via USB, not only flash so that opens the door for more possbilities. It will be exactly like Nintendo to offer a Wii U external USB HDD accessory anyway.
