I like to call something like this BGS--Blue Gartr Syndrome. Yes, the same forum that is ill-regarded by many in the FFXI community despite the useful information in the wiki. The elitists you describe (as opposed to truly elite players) are those who like to think they hit a triple when, in reality, another batter hit them over to 3rd (oftentimes not even from 1st).

You got the best armor in the game thus far. Good for you. Just remember you had help like the people you are so eager to put down. Also, I really have trouble believing these mythical players with below-standard gear actually exist outside the minds of these tryhards.

Uh, you can have full DL but not relic weapon +1 without first doing all the primal HM.

This is correct. Unfortunately, I've seen too many players that, while they have their AF (aka welfare ilvl50), their other slots are usually populated with sub level 20 items or worse, in some cases, they don't even have a ring on. There's accessories you can get from the Grand Company as well.

You know... Logically speaking since you fight for AF and don't need others helping you to do so, wouldn't anything that's the opposite of that be deemed as welfare/handout gear? Anything earned socially could pretty much fall under the term 'Welfare Gear' especially chest/tome gear.

By welfare, she means that you didnt have to actually do anything for it other than hopping on a chocobo and running past some mobs. vs having to actually earn it (which is a foreign concept in this game)

The first time I cleared Garuda HM, I had nothing more than AF gear and some level 50 accessories. And the party I was with was similarly geared. If people are shouting for full DL and relic, let them. So what?
