Why is housing even being released

In Gimme Entitlement Reborn, SE can't release anything that takes time and work and community building and any of the virtues they hope to instill in the player base that are lacking in its instant grat channel surfing low attention span twitterati gimme the escalade now daddy existence.

Except a Public House isn't a Relic or a Mythic weapon is it?

It's casual content put on a Hardcore-grinders scale...but I'm done trying to explain that.

And how would all those FFXI vets have felt if a relic weapon was easier/harder to farm currency for depending on your server choices you made 3 months...or even 2 years ago?

If it's being purposefully overpriced so we can't buy it because the servers can't handle everyone buying and having one?

Maybe I'm super unique but instead of being purposefully overpriced for three months until they probably fix the servers I'd have much preferred they just didn't release housing until 2.2 when they got new servers that could handle more than 15 plots a world. It just really doesn't make sense to me to release a product you can't support and then to hide that fact make it so expensive no one can buy it.

I just can't help imagining that if they postponed housing until 2.2 or whenever they upgrade the servers that the blowback would be a tenth of what it is now. Because instead of everyone being angry that content is being released and put behind an impassable because the servers can't handle it. We'd only be a little annoyed because it was being delayed but would at least work and be affordable when it finally arrived. So instead ofeveryone wanting Yoshis head on a pike we'd at least have something to look forward too.

This one is predicting by the end of the year, housing will be reduced by a factor of 10. 361 million gil (on Sargatanas) for the top tier of housing is just silly.

@ Rom- I agree we don't need handouts. But the difference is "generally" housing in MMOs is generally considered a "casual" thing while high end gear, relics and what not, is generally considered hardcore. Now I understand that some elements to housing may require more dedication, simply having access to a base level housing has never required a hardcore FC/ guild. At least that I have seen, and I've played most mmos. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Guess what kid, housing is completely optional.
You don't have to buy it, you don't have to live in it, and you don't have to make furniture for it.
For all practical purposes, there is no housing for you.
So as far as your concerned it's not even really released, so stop crying you just got what you want - no housing was released for you in this patch.

Well this isn't 11 it's 14 and there's a difference between entitlement and it requiring 50 people donating all of their money for 45 days straight to afford a house on the NA legacy servers and 90 on the JP ones. That goes up to 90+ and 180+ when you drop down to 20ish members which is pretty common size

Oh look, someone making a pointless post to complain about someone posting an observation and request for clarification.

On topic, they admitted they don't have the hardware and hope the player base are silly enough to swallow their other excuses after the fact. SE have never been up front with the players and I don't know why I ever expected this bunch of devs to be any different. They'll make up whatever excuses they can right up till the players are in open revolt and the game starts to see revenue drop before they try and be open about their bad decisions.

I love SE's games, not so much in recent years but I know they have a knack for these things you don't get from many other companies. They are also kings of screwing up for hair brained reasoning. The players just need to jump up and down on their heads till it gets through em that you don't release half finished content and damn sure not before you have the infrastructure in place to provide your product to folks that have payed you for it already.
