Why is housing even being released

More or less saying SE released it before it was ready because to do otherwise would be to admit mistake and lose face. That or they intend housing to stay the realm of the few. Which I don't think is the case, at least I hope not.

SE Loose face? Hah, They've effectively managed to fling their own crap into their face. Even gaming websites are now picking up on the outrageous prices. I'm from a guild with ~40 active members. Since we have a couple crafters who actually enjoy playing the market, we've managed to put away ~8 mil since the initial announcement.

The funny thing is that this really won't remove gill from the servers (apart from the few rich idiots who acidentaly hit the purchase button). As the housing is not attainable during a reasonable time frame, with reasonable effort most of the other guilds I've talked to have come to the same conclusion....

Basically, "f**k that, I'm keeping our gil for ourselves!"

If it's being purposefully overpriced so we can't buy it because the servers can't handle everyone buying and having one?

Maybe I'm super unique but instead of being purposefully overpriced for three months until they probably fix the servers I'd have much preferred they just didn't release housing until 2.2 when they got new servers that could handle more than 15 plots a world. It just really doesn't make sense to me to release a product you can't support and then to hide that fact make it so expensive no one can buy it.

I just can't help imagining that if they postponed housing until 2.2 or whenever they upgrade the servers that the blowback would be a tenth of what it is now. Because instead of everyone being angry that content is being released and put behind an impassable because the servers can't handle it. We'd only be a little annoyed because it was being delayed but would at least work and be affordable when it finally arrived. So instead ofeveryone wanting Yoshis head on a pike we'd at least have something to look forward too.

This one is predicting by the end of the year, housing will be reduced by a factor of 10. 361 million gil (on Sargatanas) for the top tier of housing is just silly.

@ Rom- I agree we don't need handouts. But the difference is "generally" housing in MMOs is generally considered a "casual" thing while high end gear, relics and what not, is generally considered hardcore. Now I understand that some elements to housing may require more dedication, simply having access to a base level housing has never required a hardcore FC/ guild. At least that I have seen, and I've played most mmos. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Guess what kid, housing is completely optional.
You don't have to buy it, you don't have to live in it, and you don't have to make furniture for it.
For all practical purposes, there is no housing for you.
So as far as your concerned it's not even really released, so stop crying you just got what you want - no housing was released for you in this patch.

another thread about another person complaining........ and having wrong info, of course that is a requirement too ;p

You can see by the pricing, they are doing it this way to remove as much gil as they can from the game, they even said later the prices will be lowered (guessing for the personal house release)
