hmmm *sighs*fine if that's the case about it but again you're being so hostile and negative towards other people's opinions they're offering solutions and offering their own suggestions and you try to bash them down as if yours and only the other people who agree with you have a right to speak. I don't know about you but quite honestly I wasn't raised that way. But eh C'est la vie. I'm done with this.

Actually you're mistaken, this was announced back in 2007 and SE did put it in due to complains and players constantly asking for it.

    02 MAR 2007 - El Segundo, CA

At the Final Fantasy XI Premier Site Summit today, the Vice President of Community Relations of FFXI announced that they have confirmed that they will soon be implementing and making available the option to run Final Fantasy XI in Windowed mode without the use of any illegal third party programs. However, no specific timeline or time-table for the implementation was available.

The additional features comes after vocal support and demand by the community (YOU) to allow a built-in window mode option, announcing to the Premier Community Sites that the FFXI Team hear your requests and opinions and have responded.
As to bugs, if there is a bug or issue that is affecting the way the game should be run it should be voiced and fixed by the team. Obviously the more the bug affects the game the larger the priority it should be therefore some bugs will take longer to fix, but at least said bugs have been noted by the dev team.

My pleasure, sir. This gal's got your back on this one.

The point is that we shouldn't have to find workarounds. It should just work.

Please fix the DirectX issue! We should be able to alt+tab and window key while in full screen mode without fear of crashing the game.

Been thinking this since day one, and every time i brought it up with peeps in game i get flamed to death. Really don't understand why this games fan base feels SE/FF14 is beyond reproach.

Its a pretty big deal i will agree with that. We even received a reply back from the dev team via the community team the last time this was brought up. But until this is fixed. People can either jump up and down while holding there breath about it or be proactive about finding short to long term workarounds.

Yes we shouldn't have to go through these issues again. Its bs that we do, How ever that does not change the fact that we are facing them. And that there are things we can do as users to work around them.

And row, disabling areo snap should fix the issue your having with the windowed mode. might take a bit of fiddling when you launch the game to get the window just right but it should be possible to create a faux full screen experience.

Actually you sir are mistaken because your quote does not support your claim it was due to complaints of any kind, let alone of the kind I was referring to.

Yeah, I really can't believe people are so agitated over supporting this bug. Unbelievable.

The thing is Rannie you need to pay attention to context. No where in this bug report did it say "omg please help me!!1" and it was posted under bug reports, not TECHNICAL SUPPORT. I don't need your tech support! I know I could probably pray to the Patron Saint of the Microsoft Windows Key for glorious help, but that is not why this thread was created OR MOVED to this forum. Perhaps you did not pick up the distant scent of me wanting your help - that would be because I am an advanced user and I could program my own workaround to this bug if I needed to. Please pay attention to the purpose of a thread before you post in it supporting A BUG.

To the rest of you thinking about offering bug workarounds - please don't post that here because it's inappropriate. The mod was presumably curious about anyone else being affected by this bug. If you did use a workaround to get around with this bug - did that affect your satisfaction? I know having the bottom of the window cut off is a pretty lame workaround.

You should think about what you post and the consequences of it, because this isn't some random forum where you can voice your stupid opinion with no consequences. oh please, bite me...... I gave an easy fix to the problem, and you know why? because this was the issue with FFXI for 8 years, and it was never fixed, and it is here with FFXIV, I disable my windows buttons for other reasons, not just for FFXIV. People can not stand to be given an easy fix to something, they just call the person a apologist (stupid word by the way) or SE humpers..... both are really childish.

I don't think of SE as being all high and mighty, but when I can fix something myself and relatively easy and fast, then what is the problem? It is not like it takes programing knowledge to disable the windows keys until this issue is fixed. I swear newer gamers this age really are spoiled...........

As to you suggesting anyone is complaining about this issue - @#$# you good sir. IT'S A BUTTON THAT CRASHES THE GAME. If you want to get off to SE so bad, why don't you order some sex toys off the internet. Your hormonal urges are going to confuse any new players who come to this game. (poor choice of words?)

really? your really going to act like this? wow you sure are special........

again like I said in my above post... it is an easy fix, look up sharpkeys in google, download it, and use it to disable the windows keys, it is a very easy proccess, and if you can not do that....well...sorry.

Anyone remember waayyy back in the days of Doom 2?

    SE does. Boss Key GO!

I remember loading up FFXIV open beta the week before game release, and hoping most of my favorite FFXI features were implemented. I was NOT disappointed.

    Mandatory Full-Screen - Check
Video Settings as a separate executable from game client that requires /logout - Check
Game crashes from: Alt+Tab, resolution change, UAC, change in focus - Check
No built-in Windowed mode - Check
Awkward client that doesn't have any built-in configuration settings - Check
Poor usage of hardware resources - Check
Convoluted account signup/character creation process - Check
(As a beta user, I was unfortunately deprived of the intense pleasure of their customer friendly, convenient and easy to manage payment system)

I was banking on those key features, and so was SE, which is why they decided to release the game with them intact.

I don't understand why there's so much criticism aimed at SE. They obviously decided the things that were unpopular in FFXI should remain, and that everything remotely like-able from FFXI should be pruned, to create an entirely new gaming experience. They even added a "three second lag to accomplish any UI/equipment/item/battle related task" feature, to give players considerable time to plan their inventory/battle command procedures.

Kudos SE. Haters gonna hate; just keep on keepin' on and doing what you do best: DirectX programming.
