Exactly, and look what happened. Have you read on the changes to B4B and IR? They are now more focused on their home classes and jobs, and no longer as EFFECTIVE outside of their class and jobs.
No man, that's not it at all lol The B4B and IR nerf barely affected us and no one really minded it, all the drama is about Rain of Death losing -10% damage mitigation, which was core to our job. If anything they pushed us more into being a DPS job and less into support.
Uh, ok. Doesn't change the fact that they're focusing more on their own classes and jobs and nerfing their effect as a CC skill. No man, that's not it at all lol The B4B and IR nerf barely affected us and no one really minded it, all the drama is about Rain of Death losing -10% damage mitigation, which was core to our job. Except getting THM high enough to unlock SMN requires it to be high enough to have Thunder. Up to lv15 THM is just as much a part of the SMN job as ACN.

Realize this. They NERFED cc abilities as a whole. ONLY smn gets theirs REMOVED entirely. Doesn't that constitute itself as being a MAJOR Nerf? Clearly you are just being stubborn.
Stop pulling words out of my mouth. I never said it wasn't a problem. I even said they should have went about it an entirely other way asides from removing it.
I'm more worried that you have to be so dependent on a CC skill to have it so integral, that's all.
And your third statement is entirely false. I know of one job off the top of my head that also got a CC skill removed (WHM with Thunder) and maybe there were more.
TBH, I never really used Thunder outside a contagion rotation or RS+contagion rotation, i thought it was way to expensive mp wise.
I'm really more concerned about the "hidden" nerfs like Shadow Flare breaking Sleep/Bind, Sustain needing MP now (depends how much it costs, if it's 10% then I dunno why I shouldn't just use a Physick instead...) and Virus!
With Virus having a 90sec cooldown but a 60sec blockade, you can't really rotate another virus inside fights without wasting 30seconds of the virus cd! It's just ridiculous! Now the "real" cooldown of our Virus in raids is 120sec!
Inb4 making our Ressurection available as cross class skill to Blackmages -__-
Whats really sad is that our rep just sort of recovered by the dps stigma, now we're totally sliding into the same stigma again with all the "AMG you totally killed the SMN DPS threads" because the headlines are enough to affect the ingame.
Besides the bit about Ifrit I agree with you. We needed a buff and fixes this patch if anything now we got a redundant skill, no fixes, and dps nerf yaySummoner needed SO many changes... and we got nothing positive besides that EXTREMELY MINOR bane buff.
-Ifrit is still garbage (literally useless)...
-Enkindle is still a 5 minute cooldown that costs two other cooldowns (rouse and spur) to do LESS damage than Flare..
-Our AoE is still completely inferior to BLM...
-Bane still chooses its targets in an extremely clunky manner...
-Tri-disaster remains....
How do you keep coming up with dependent? We aren't dependent on a CC skill, but as I've said, and about 100 others, which apparently isn't working for you. We are losing 10-15% of our DPS, with no compensation for that loss.Stop pulling words out of my mouth. I never said it wasn't a problem.
