Perhaps SE should publish a report on the actual state of the economy in the game. Maybe if we all knew just how much Gil was on a given server, it would make it easier to understand why the prices are set so high. It's a reasonable question to ask "isn't the price too high?".

Personally, I just think most people are a little upset because they thought that the 800k that we saw on the test/development version wasn't the actual result, and that it ended up being several times more than that. The prices will come down over time as the amount of gil in circulation comes down, I would think. For now, most of us will just have to look at the rich FCs with a hint of jealousy and contempt. Nothing like a little reality injected into your MMO.

That's the problem. How much gil on a given server is irrelevant when the RMT are still here spamming their sales. They horde billions of gil/gold/platinum/whatever the current currency is. Their farmers continue to farm going unpunished. Heck, there's bots people reported since day 1 that are mining underground that are still here and farming with no ban in sight. How much gil did that one bot make alone? Factor in the hundreds of others and that's where most of the gil on a server belongs.

Note it's not just one company. Look at the RMT spam. There's multiple different companies that are working on the same game on each server. There's where the majority of the gil is and factoring that into how much the average fc/player has.. is ridiculous.

That's a macro view, but what about the micro view of the economy. You'll see not that many ppl have millions upon millions of gil.
