You're looking at a mid-sized plot for a small FC....Our group could probably raise the 8m -10m for the smallest, crappiest plot on our server but no one wants to now. Because we weren't hoping for a HUGE plot but something midsized where a group of 30 active players could hang out. The richest person in my FC has 2.1m. Some have under 100k. For a mid sized plot we're looking at 30m+

I'm getting a little tired of this attitude.
IF, IF that was SE's real intent, then the plots should come with a min/max occupancy but guess what, they don't. A large FC is has as much right to a small plot as a Small FC does, and vice versa. Furthermore, STOP saying people are just being impatient, and 'you shouldn't be able to get the big trophy in one day'.
First, there are Legacy FC's that have literally been saving for YEARS, yes YEARS for a FC Guildhouse. So even if your logic is 'correct' that 40 Members=Midsized house based on gil naturally generated leveling 1-50 via quests and storylines FINE. But what if those same 40 people work together for 2 years to save money for a big house and STILL can't afford it...What then? Is that fair or logical...this isn't real life, it's a game.
Second, there are 5 different price points for each sized house...so why can't the 'level 5' versions of each house be 'within reason' but maybe the most far away in the zone/silly layout of land etc.
Third, but in some regards the most important. THIS.IS.JUST.THE.COST.OF.THE.LAND. Not the house, not the building of the house, not the furniture, nor addons etc. SE designed FC housing to be a gil sink...we ALL KNEW THAT. But the real gil sink should be in the decorating and building of it. SE shouldn't be bankrupting us on the plot of land alone...then how is the building/furniture production ever going to help the economy.
Forth, most legacy players were not rich...furthermore, not everyone on a legacy server is a 1.0 vet. The prices being different depending on the World you decided to be on (or in the case of Legacy folk were FORCED to be on) is unfair and will play out poorly later. This just gives yet another reason for people to not wish to start fresh on a 'Legacy Server'...because a FC full of new players will have to work 3-6 times as hard (yes really that much harder) to get the exact same thing they could have on a 'Newer' server. This will also cause some thrifty FC's to decide to pack up and move to 'cheaper' locations so their gil has more buying power/value.
Fifth. The is the ONLY thing in game atm a FC can actually work on as an entire group. Everything in game can be done in a 4 or 8 man static...everything. Housing, If even remotely affordable, it would have brought people together. Pride in ownership, FC and working together. Whether in a Small or Large home, the group would have a place to hang out, decorate, and call their own. A place to mark FC achievements and growth. Most FC's on most servers can't even afford the smallest grade 5 plot...
Sixth. They have been very unclear on what happens if you decide to buy small now, but move to a big house later. They have also been unclear as to what features you can include in each size of housing. People would probably calm down if they knew they could have the important features (crafting/aytherite etc) in anysized home.
Seventh: What happens when all the 'small lots' are bought in an instance but no one buys the mid-large lots? Does another instance pop or do we all get locked out until someone buys every lot in that instance? Because if we can't spawn an new instance until every lot is purchased on the existing...there will be issues, especially now when if a FC can afford a house, it would be a small-mid (if they scrimped). But even if instances do open up as the last of one type of house is purchased, instead of a vibrant instance filled with different types of housing, there will be a handful of small-half built FC homes and lots of barren unpurchased land.
Lastly. These are not personal homes...PERSONAL homes, could be downright pricey and people would probably complain less...but instead FC Housing are PUBLIC housing. So unless you are a FC leader, you most likely will have little influence on the location, size, decorations or features of the house. So why should you be obligated to shell out 300K-6Mil for a home as a FC member? As I said, there isn't even reason in game in the moment to be in a FC. (This is SE's stupidity)
3rd & 5th points 100% agree. Imo, they did it backwards. Price land reasonably, so many can buy & we can begin gathering mats & building our guildhall where every member can contribute. That diversity lies in the members themselves. They can see a common goal & progress. SE missed the mark with this one.Third, but in some regards the most important. Your 6th point has been slightly covered here & there, though still vague.
#1 Can't sell land
#2 Must remove everything, including tearing down house
#3 Don't forget, many furnishings & items placed might be lost trying to retrieve
#4 The items successfully retrieved can not be sold
TLDR: I too thought maybe we could start very small & later transition, but honestly for what? No point in burning ourselves twice. Losses would far out-weigh profitability.![]()
