But the reason those servers have more gil is because the player-base stuck through this game during it's worst of times. These same players have already had their gil reduced by 90%. Having to spend 10x's more gil on a house pretending that the economies of the other servers will never grow is either a) Bullshit or b) those other servers will die.

Not to mention that not all players on a Legacy server bled money from ppl in 1.0; or even exist in 1.0.

Just a random question about housing because I don't want to make an entire thread for it...

Will we be able to enter and take look at the housing areas without buying a house?

As someone in my FC pointed out, they want to even the gil between legacy and new players, as well as weed out the gil generated by selling primal wins and RMT plague. Different prices per server for the same in-game mechanic is a, pardon my language, dick move and let's not pretend it's anything else. FC houses would be fun till personal homes arrive but if I could live without a more user-friendly UI through 1.0 then, by all means, I can do without a FC home for a while (till the inevitable price nerf arrives). I can't live without my gils, however, cause I know how hard I've worked for the shiny shiny virtual coins. Being punished for choosing to stay on my mother server with old friends at ARR release. That's what it feels like to me at this point. Looking forward to some of the new features though (and more miniooooons!!!).

Yes. We can explore those areas. Won't be able to enter other people's houses, I guess, unless the owner makes it unlocked.

I still don't get what's not to understand. SE knows how much gil is on a server, SE chose the prices based ON the gil on that server. Just because another individual doesn't have that kind of money doesn't mean the SERVER doesn't have that kind of money. It's like just because a country prospering doesn't mean everyone is.

The Gil is not equally distributed across the server, Most people I know top out at maybe 100k Gil total on balmung. The huge amounts of gil are in a very small group. That's the issue here.

But that is how things work in a lot of games including, yes i say it again real life. In reality, it's actually closer to this by the way, 10% rich ppl, 40 % above average people, and then 50% so called poor people. Unless we're all for communism, I don't see how a difference in riches is a bad thing? 99.9% of us can't afford a mansion but we don't complain about it? (or so I hope unless entitlement exist outside of game, heh what am I talking about, of course it is..) In fact, the top 50 % of people who have more money is because they worked for it. They didn't do the exact same things the so called poor people did. They used their brain and took advantage of certain situations. Sure the ones who aren't legit e.g. RMT are not right, but it's not like SE isn't against RMT. In fact, people who use RMT gil to buy housing is going to be punished severely.

Plus, those housing are going to be more affordable over time so it's more of a GOAL rather than a sudden destination. Everyone has had an expectation that every single FC and their mums were going to be able to afford it on release. SE actually handed out some somewhat exclusivity and this is exactly wat happens. I said this before and i'll say it again, people want stuff to be hard enough that they can obtain it, but not so hard they they can't obtain it. IF it's harder than what they can achieve, they'll call it OP, needs a nerf and flip the table calling it bad design.

My guess is: not a lot.

Don't go letting reason get in the way of a good narrative, though. Wouldn't want to ruin this facade of rationality you've got goin'.

EDIT: What this comes down to is an attempt at a bait-and-switch to deal with the item duplication gil exploit from a few months back. It is perhaps the worst possible method of addressing the aftermath of that exploit.

O.o I will be curious to see the number of people willing to front this kind of cash for housing in coming weeks...

I just lawls at the people defending theese insane prices, with "blah blah real life house mortage" blah blah...
So I guess your letting 500 people stay in your real life house aswell, to help pay for it? yeeeah, didnt think so...

The prices are too damn high. Thats it. And for SE to expect FC's with several hundred players in them to pay theese prices, yet they only release 8 man content all the time. Kinda goes against eachother.

I wonder how long it will be, for the first dude to form a 500 member FC, let them all pool money into the bank, then kick everyone out while he enjoys his new luxus villa.
