There is zero reason for anyone to even buy housing right now... hell there is going to be little reason until at least the next update or more likely further than that.

What do you get out of housing as of this update? You get a house you can place furniture in and... that's it...

You won't have retainer access in FC housing until 2.3, nor will you have access to an aetheryte. Chocobo breeding? Future update. Basement airship workshop? Future update. Gardening? Future update. In game FC tools like message/note boards? Future update.

As things stand right now the housing system is an expensive vanity project for people that like to play house. It will be used by people that frequent RMT sites and scoff at the price or legitimate groups that love being the first to do something and have far more money than they have common sense.

Is SE going to screw us over with high prices until we make ourselves poor or something? Is this going to be a thing going forward where we get punished for how different servers play?

I imagine that, just like they've always stated from the start, that SE are doing Free Company housing to test the system. They've mostly commented on testing the servers in the past, but it also applies to the price and furniture/etc.

If this is a ridiculous and unobtainable cost, like everyone seems to be pretending, then when personal housing comes along, they'll price it accordingly to how Free Company housing sold, as well as adjusting Free Company housing (which, afaik, they even said they'd do).

This. It was supposed to be an escape from repetitious, grindy content. A way for all of us to have a change of pace. A place for our FC to laugh and goof off. Instead it is an exclusive place for only the super rich and gilbuyers to do all of those things. The rest of us plebeians will be stuck doing the same things we were before the patch; ripping our eyes out of the monotonous grind of repetitive content while we wait for our 2 hours of coil and one drop from CT every week.

You buy a house, you decide which wallpaper looks nice, you add in some chairs and a table and then... you're done. Maybe the next day you log in and decide you want the leather upholstered chairs instead of the wooden ones and that the table may look better in the other corner.

This is the first implementation of a system at its barest, without any of the worthwhile and interesting features they've repeatedly said would not be coming until future updates.

If you were expecting to be able to bury yourself in the whole housing experience and get away from the boring world of killing monsters then you've managed to set your expectations way too high.

Hey, you can like killing Tonboy 600000 times without losing your friggin marbles, cool.
But let me design my house in peace and have fun with it. Different strokes for a lot of folk.
It gives me something to do after playing CT or whatever. The more content and just random things to do on the side
the better. The whole thing is a trap. Since it's near impossible to make a big FC home.
They go ahead and make you play for months on in aka sub all the time so we can obtain the goal.

Even though it isn't P. Housing some people REALLY want to have their own house. I'm not the only one wanting to go solo.
Thing is, not all of us can design it, only the FC leader person...So....I mean if we had our own rooms where we can design it I guess...
But I wanna do everything so there lol.

You play it your way, buddy, I'll play it mine. I expect I'd have spent 25% of my time in the housing. I spend 10% of my active time in my inn at the moment, chatting with my friends. About 40% of it is crafting, I can do a significant amount of that within the FC housing. And that's not to mention the fishing you can do in FC Housing, which I do indeed look forward to. But most of all? A place me and my friends can call our home and go to when we're not doing other things. And yes, we used to do this often in 1.x when people had to have "gathering areas" (because no Duty Finder), so I don't see why we can't spend a lot of time hanging around and chatting in ARR, too.

Oh, come on, I beg you guys stop defending this matter, please.

They have been telling us FC housing is coming for months now, MONTHS. It was one of the main content parts of 2.1, lots of people were looking forward to it. They promoted it in such way for weeks or even months. Now, out of nowhere they ask crazy prices. The reason for those prices are not because they want it to be for the elite only. SE is using the housing system to cover their own mistakes. They let bots and RMT destroy the market since the early access period and now they are trying to cover it up and fix it buy removing huge amounts of gil from the system.

You have to be blind fan boy to not see this. I have defended FFXIV a lot, I played 1.0 until the serves went down, I have legacy status and I am pretty hardcore orientated in general, but this is ridiculous and I can not find any possible way to defend this.
