The overall community in this game (specially on the forums) remind me of Tera's.

A couple of months ago, I would have disagreed with you entirely.
90% of my CM runs had someone going AFK for tomes, the forums (especially the beta ones) were full of people raging at each other (oh, the legacy/non-legacy drama) about servers going down and white knights/trolls etc etc. People used to rage at CS-watchers in storyline dungeons.
Now, though both ingame and forums seem a lot calmer. Disagreements are less hostile etc.
This could be because I no longer do storyline dungeons so never see those problems anymore, or because a lot of the people that were causing the drama were only here while the game was free and don't want to pay subs or simply because the game is playable and stable now that is causing people a lot less stress.
Should test this out by making a thread along the lines of "Dear SE make legacy available again, it's unfair that x gets y ..." etc etc. We can see if the hostility is still there.
While I don't hate this community I still miss XI's community or even the 1.0 community. That said, I've met a lot of cool people that jumped ship from other games to play this one.
“ Free the world, not by taking men’s lives, but by taking their tongues.”
Wow, a positive post
And this is how I see you

I have run into a number of "unkind individuals" but on the whole the community is pretty good. Btw Aerostein I absolutely adore your signiture!
I wouldn't know, there's not much need to interact with the community.
In my opinion, it's the hardcore crowd that are the worst. My worst experience was with a tank who refused to do a WP run with me simply because I was a DRG AND I was under-geared. He said "You might be able to run it in 20 minutes, more likely 30" and left the party instantly. Despite the fact that I was running WP in 20 minutes with full AF/lvl50 gear and am now clocking a consistent 15 minute run with a static which has dropped down to 10 minutes since we added a BLM.
They rely too much on gear and class to measure players. I feel like casuals are more laid back, willing to give people a chance, and willing to admit when they've made a mistake. I've done Chimera, Hydra, Ifrit, and Garuda in one shot with casual groups; and the Chimera battle I did with 3 healers LOL.
Actually I would agree that XIV's community is a fair bit better on average. Not that it doesn't have its problems, but most of the time things are pretty good.
I disagree, i've encountered problems at all ends of the spectrum. Just as some hardcore players can be stuck up, so too can casuals be really stubborn- Often refusing to accept help and advice and getting quite rude when they are clearly making a mistake but insist they know what they're doing. In my opinion, it's the hardcore crowd that are the worst.
There are great people and bad apples in all sectors of the community. The hardcore players are not disproportionately worse.
