How I See FF ARR Community

So I am a bit of an old man (30 years soon) been playing games since I was about 7 I think. Wow 23 years...damn..

And I can safely say the community in this game is by far the best I seen. No general "Wow is first mmorpg" nonsense. No Meme jokes (There is some and they are clever) most are helpful. And when it comes to Pick up group most of them have been awesome. One was less good but that was due to server lag issues and I understand people get annoyed.

And what really was intressting is that people use proper english. And that is darn rare in an mmorpg. I say to the community of FF ARR keep up the good work!

I'm glad you feel as such, but some would disagree with you, myself included. That said, it's not any worse than any other modern MMO, but I wouldn't say it's all sugar and rainbows either.

There's absolutely no evidence of this "toxic community" that people like to hark on about on the forums. I've played for a while now, and 99% of the people I meet are either polite or just silent (ps3, no keyboard I'd imagine).

    The community is absolutely fine.

I think it's fine and since the game is subscription based it keeps out a lot of immature gamers.

It may seem worse than normal because people are more inclined to vent their bad experiences than their good experiences.

I've come across bad players but not a single douchebag.

    1. The number of Lv.50 classes/jobs you have says nothing about your skill.
    2. FATEs are responsible for the majority of Lv.50 "derps".
    3. Don't blame a healer if you died in red zones; that was all on you.
    4. As a healer, healing is your top priority; DPSing comes second.
    5. As a tank, your healer can only keep you alive for so long; avoid red zones, too.
    6. As a DPS, you're partially responsible for hate management, too.
    7. Don't belittle newbs for their lack of skill or knowledge; you were one of them once.

I will say this. This is the first that I've actually joined a guild (FC) and enjoyed the people. Most I've joined in the past wouldn't even answer questions for you. My current FC is always asking people if they can help and it makes you want to help more in turn.

agreed, and i will elaborate a bit.

I play on PS3 with a keyboard. I don't like to chat all the time while I am fighting, but I do chat at the start of a dungeon, when someone does a good job with something, or in town talking to people etc.

The only "toxic" situations I have had are when people have different expectations. When you start a dungeon, and everyone besides one person is new, you can't honestly expect no one to make a mistake. When a mistake happens, people freak out for no reason. They have different expectations than other players and for that reason some people might get upset. That is not really "toxic", though. That is just frustration in general about having your expectations not met.

In addition, I find a lot of people mention that the community is toxic because people ask for certain things in a group. this is a problem for 3 reasons.

1 - people should be able to compose any kind group they want. If you don't like that, thats not a community problem, thats a you problem.

2 - people think that having group requirements is "elitist" when in actuality it is just preference: I personally like having 1 ranged and 1 melee DPS. When I put a group together myself, I usually look for 1 of each, regardless of item level or skill. I am willing to work with people.

3 - Put your now groups together if you have a problem or think that the above 2 reasons cause "toxicity". This is an MMORPG where different people like to do different things with different groups. just because YOU disagree with something someone else does, doesn't mean its toxic, its just a difference of opinion.

I joined 3 FCs before I found one that was like minded. I join an FC to play a multiplayer game with multiple people. My IRL friends don't play this game, so I want to join a group where people actually coordinated events and such together. I don't get to play everyday, so they are (mostly) ahead of me. I log in, ask if anyone wants to help with something, and usually, we can fill out an 8 man no problem.

as you say, I in turn want to help also. I have nor problem doing Halatali with someone new or someones alt, because I know i am in a good FC that will help me with things when I need them.

I agree, but sometimes I think this board probably makes devs think the community is worse than it is.
