Character lock outs is counterintuitive of the one character all class idea

I like raiding more than once a week on different toons. That said, lock outs should be based on classes in this game, not characters. I wouldn't have a problem leveling up other characters if the cross class skills wasn't a factor; however, most of the cross class skills seem pretty important for the most part. That said, if I want to raid more than once a week, I actually have to do more grinding versus less which I think is counterintuitive of the whole idea of one character all classes.

Wow such an original idea, I wonder why no one else has thought of this yet.

The reason is simple, they are throttling content, all mmo's do it to some point. If you want to raid more than once a week, put in the work level multiple characters like you have to in other games. You can do every job on one character in this game, but they don't just give you everything, you have to make decisions, gear jobs one at a time, mix end game gear between different jobs, and in the future you will see more of the stat allocating coming into play with more jobs and pvp being released, you can allocate points toward summoner and gear summoner to be an UBERsummoner, or you can allocate points toward scholar, while gearing summoner, so you can easily step in to do either job, you won't be the best that class can be, but you will be more that what is needed to be effective given the content we have. People want diversity and uniqueness, you know choices to stand out, well in this game so far these are those choices, they may not be the ones everyone wants, but they are the ones the game is designed around.

And there is also a reason why advertisements repeat the same message over and over in about a 30 second duration.

And there is a reason people own DVR's, Netflix and Hulu accounts, so they can watch what they want when they want and skip advertisements, at some point the same thing over and over again becomes annoying.

Leveling an alt really just takes away from this game. The armory system is the #1 reason I'm playing this game (I still don't know why other MMO devs haven't taken a page from 11/14's job system, it's brilliant) and it's just a shame to see such a great mechanic go to waste since SE essentially put in lockouts that are carbon copies of other generic MMOs with one class per character setups.

They have, Everquest next and Elder scrolls are both based around one character learning everything, elder scrolls you have 4 base classes, but you can mage/rogue/tank/heal whatever from any of those 4, and Everquest is going so far as your weapon determines 4 of your 8 active abilities, you cross class the other 4 from classes you have learned and unlocked. Still not as full on like the armory system, but it is quite a step away from a new alt for everything you want to do.

I'll just quote myself, as I already answered this topic in a different thread:
