For the sake of argument, let's say someone plays as a healer with a horrible connection and connects to a server on the other side of the world, which I might add, is already having to juggle with the pings from many other players. Are you really so certain that this person would still have the same window of opportunity to dodge when he also has to heal the players in a way that doesn't make everything go wonky? To provide a precise and accurate window for dodging would forego the ability to properly heal players' falling HP.At some point, lag has to kick in. There are ways to make the experience more seamless, but when your ping gets too high, there's just no way to bypass the problem apart from a better internet connection. I've played fighting games with amazing netcode, but I still get these crazy moments in which my opponent lands a hit on me long after I did something first.
It's not an assumption its fact rofl. You can blame lag all you want for why you got hit, but if you are in my party and say lag killed you, 95% of the time people are lying and just didn't move in time. If they are lagging that bad its the connection they have (spiking pings =/= SE's fault btw), and maybe they should A:Try to get a better connection, B:Play in a data center nearest them or if those fail C: Not play at all if it breaks gameplay that bad for them.

The world isn't perfect. People would talk about achieving market equilibrium, but the economy only ever fluctuates about that point. Any system, mechanical or virtual, can never reach 100% efficiency. Look, netcode for FFXIV is very good. Impressive even. But the way you claim it to be a perfect little gem is just inaccurate.

Did I ever say it was SE's fault? I didn't. Read again.

    That's called a ping spike.

I play from South-East Asia, and my connection is just as mediocre, if not worse. Japan's servers (the closest) are about 2500km away from where I live. I can dodge because I've learned the rotation. But that doesn't mean I don't notice when damage hits me after I clearly stand outside the radius before the cast ends.
You may not have stated SE but you imply its their netcode and latency causing issues, when its likely player error. Even if it comes to latency, you said it yourself you have learned the rotation. If a player knows the rotation, its player error when he gets hit right? or is it just a free chance to blame latency? There are always going to be times where it was a legitimate complaint of latency, but so many people use it as a crutch to blame the game instead of realizing their own shortcomings, or learning how position check actually works in this game.

Also I said 95% becuase there are moments where it falters or players experience some latency, never said it was this perfect little gem, I just like the fact that I can have the same latency as anyone else who tests it but have 0 problems dodging nearly anything in this game. Either way its a moot point, complainers will complain, and skilled players will continue to clear content. Such is life.

If SE were to sync up animations with the position check (Which can't be that hard, really...come on SE, its time) almost all problems people complain about with latency would be removed.
