What about we do it for fun?

Some people are forgetting the objective of playing a game: Having fun. Why do you play Super Smash Bros? There is not loot, you just have fun.

I think doing a raid with other 23 people is pretty cool and I'll have tons of fun.

At least we can run CT as much as we like, can't do that with Coil. Step in the right direction I suppose.

Anyways, content and loot do go hand in hand, but loot doesn't make terrible content fun. If the content is terrible will you torture yourself to get that awesome looking loot?

Well yeah, that's how most people got their DL and Myth tomes. WP/AK were fun at first, but the 80th spam it's more torture than anything, which is why people usually get at least half of their tomes from Coil then SR WP or Garuda/Titan for the rest.

Well I don't know about anyone else, but I go in playing SSBM/B knowing there's no loot to obtain and I'll never be locked out of obtaining what I want. What if you could only get 1 character a week in the new Super Smash Brothers? Then the comparison would be more accurate. As much as it's obvious to play a game for fun...you play MMOs mostly to get loot and progress your character - That's just simply something no one can deny.

Why would they develop loot in the first place if that's not a goal? It's why in single player RPGs you generally go through the dungeon as a 'trial' and anything obtained there is pretty much extra (since shops usually sell what you need unless you farm the best stuff in end-game dungeons (!))

Anything fun done in repition becomes boring. Without incentive there is nothing keeping you doing said content once you cross that threshold. Its why they say never make a career out of your hobbies because you will come to hate it.

This is such a ridiculous cop out. Let me know how much "fun" you have when you run CT 12x just to get that one item you need to drop. And then you lose it to a pug in ilvl 55 gear who died on the fight.

Or how much "fun" CT will be after you've already watched the cut scenes and completed it. As someone mentioned earlier, there are plenty of low level dungeons and story sequences that no one plays because there is no incentive to do it after you finish. How come people don't do guildhests "for fun" after they get the first completion bonus? By your logic, why don't you do Cape Westwind every week?

Who is CT for then? Nobody. It doesn't gear up alts faster than WP. It doesn't gear up casuals faster than WP. The gear isn't better than Myth. It's not going to be challenging (which means it will be boring). And if it is challenging it will just be frustrating with forced pugs.

    Fact: You would be incorrect.

Supporting evidence: The forums will be full of people complaining, yet still playing.

    See you in a month.

If you take the loot out of the equation, people will go to the "next fun thing" where they can get loot. You can barely even do CT for vanity gear at this point.

CT's "fun" potential won't be realized for a very long time, since they alternate every 3 months between CT and Coil, it won't be until 6 months from now will they extend it and add in additional bosses (Cloud of Darkness and Gilgamesh most likely won't be in this early but who knows.)
Hey can you pick my lottery numbers this week?

Even though I have mostly i90 on my main I was happy to see CT coming but I see a lot of issues with the 1 week lockout. Removing the lockout and simply decreasing the drop rates would solve all the currently seen problems with CT while still maintaining the low drops that SE wants (keep in mind they want this content to hold us over until the next patch). I'd much prefer some dungeons to have low drop rates and some dungeons to have lock outs rather than every single endgame dungeon having a lockout.

I had some fun at first... but the repetitious grind made me stop logging in....

Even years ago, EQ decided they were going to do a dungeon grind and released an entire expansion called LDoN... but they gave you several locations to dungeon grind... different themes, different difficulty levels, and then the instances were dynamically generated so they were changing maps each time.

There's really no reason to be making games nowadays where people are repetitiously running the same few dungeon/maps over and over again. That is just plain ridiculous.
