I hope at the very least they go for 2 jobs for the mages. The game is already distinctly DoW-heavy. And as you say, it's hard to view Conjurer as being *just* BLM or WHM when it clearly has the staple spells of both Jobs. Also, THM doesn't come across as very WHM to me. It feels distinctly more RDM with it's heavier emphasis on debuffs. Even the players are having a hard time speculating up 2 or 3 jobs for every single DoW (that would be 10-15 physical jobs). But it's not hard to come up with 4 ideas for mage Jobs. 3 of them are staples of most FF job systems (BLM, WHM, RDM).
The game just already felt very physical-class heavy to begin with, since they didn't include Arcanist as a class. I just hope we don't get BLM on Conjurer, then have WHM shoe-horned into THM, or have WHM as the Conjurer, and just not get BLM. Both of those would be bad.
iunno if you winbut I cant see Lancer = Dragoon following 14's lore. Since dragons are hardly ever mentioned aside from them fighting an endless battle with Ishgard or w/e. Would be kind of a stretch for all of a sudden out of no where people have found a way to capture/train dragons for personal use. Or wyverns w/e lol
The OLD Conjurer had staple spells of both jobs. Going back to Matsui-san's report:
I highlighted the word "reassign". At this point, I don't expect the classes to come out of this revision looking particularly similar to how they went in.Classes
Actions will undergo major revisions, along with both the underlying mechanics and conditions.
By major revisions, not only do we mean the tweaking of effects and potency of existing actions - we will work from the ground up to redesign and reassign actions based on clearly identified class roles.
Anyone else recall Yoshi-P using the word reboot?
The dragoon archetype is Kain. No dragon necessary.iunno if you winbut I cant see Lancer = Dragoon following 14's lore. Their armor typically has a dragon motif, but only in XI did they actually have a pet dragon.
Well, this can seen in a diferent way.
One class unlocking one job doesn't mean we will have only one option. An example is CON. It is expect of i becoming BLM...but at same time its expected from it to become WHM and RDM either...CON has the basic of all color mages.
At other side, THM becoming WHM would just make no sense at all...but it becoming DRK or Sage would be more like it.
I liked this first info (i often do like the stuff Morbol says...i wish they had medals too =P) but i might wait a bit longer before having an opinion about it. But i do am expecting some kind of branching in this job system so no one can have all jobs.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
There are multiple Dragoon references in quests that involve Owl's nest. Not only about dragoons but also about dragons...i wouldn't be surprised if those dragon-shaped crystals were meant to be a way of summoning dragons.iunno if you winbut I cant see Lancer = Dragoon following 14's lore. Which has what to do with dragons? Did you read the point I was answering?
Dragoon in III only used spears.
Cid Highwind only used spears.
Freya only used spears.
Precedent means little in this series, and probably works against your argument since the cases of dragoon characters wielding only spears outnumbers the cases of dragoon characters wielding multiple weapons.
It's not clear from FF14's lore that Lancer = Dragoon.iunno if you winbut I cant see Lancer = Dragoon following 14's lore. However, clearly there is a big dragon problem, hence people that specialize in fighting dragons.
Somewhat less clearly, there is very likely a way to summon dragons. The dragons in the opening scene were likely a summon that got out of control, unless you believe that all those dragons showed up and beat the snot out of the invading Empire airship fleet "just because", and that only following that did Ishgard start to have dragon problems.
