I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Which has what to do with dragons? Did you read the point I was answering?
Dragoon in III only used spears.
Cid Highwind only used spears.
Freya only used spears.
Precedent means little in this series, and probably works against your argument since the cases of dragoon characters wielding only spears outnumbers the cases of dragoon characters wielding multiple weapons.

Cid Highwind was a set character you had no control over his weapons or his job (Which while is described as dragoon by most people is never said in game as such)
And Freya was using a Racial Weapon All the Burmecians used Spears.
And no It doesnt.
Dragoon in FFIII can use Daggers, swords and Spears.
Dragoon in FFIV can use Swords, Axes, and Spears
Dragoon in FFV can use all kinds of weapons
Dragoon in FFT, FFTA, FFTA2, can use all kinds of weapons
Dragoon in FFXI can use all kinds of weapons.

Only spears for Dragoons in FFIII.
And:

Only spears, daggers, shields in FFV.
This is different than an ancient single player RPG. Get over the fact that you are going to be locked in. It's going to happen and all your idea does is make the system stupidly complex. Changing weapons = changing classes. Also, assigning many different weapon types to one class or job completely cuts the uniqueness of any future classes or jobs.
Wouldn't it be better to save weapons to future potential of new classes leading into jobs than trying to make them into an extension of your nostalgia towards previous installments in the series? Think about it.
