Is 1.18 the final straw?

When is this patch releasing? I'm so sick of XIV. There's nothing to do and it runs pretty badly unless you close all your other stuff and play it on full screen if you don't have a high range video card.
Currently all you do is pretty much grind leves and level jobs even though the job system and ability tree is going to totally change (not to mention cross class skills and so on).

And it feels like a million years since the last patch. Because lets face it, that last 17.b or whatever was no patch.

I'm gonna wait and see if content is actually interesting, but I probably won't play until it's all ready. IDK, I'm just tired of waiting. I've moved on to bigger and better things :/

I'll stick around, I'm pretty patient, and the game ground up has so much promise to improve upon what's already there. I think a lot of people may leave, but it's safe to assume many will be interested again a couple years down the road when the game is solid and up and running.

The game needs so much more than what SE is working on.
They called it a reboot, an overhaul but I don't see anything changing in a meaningful way from what this game was in beta.

The letters were nice but there aren't going to be traditional FF jobs, no AH that works, no changes to the environment and no storyline quest that keep you wanting to see the ending.

Everything I wanted them to fix is still broken and not even in the list of things they're "looking into" and even when they say that they're not doing anything about the things they were supposed to "look into" 6 months ago.

Theres no way this game is even going to get a second look a couple years down the road if it doesnt retain its playerbase now, if it doesnt do that the game will shut down, not to mention even if it does hold on to a very small cult following, most will have moved on to the MMOs that will just be releasing, whatever they are, a few years from now. Most mmos that opened like this one were unplugged right away. Only ones backed by big names are able to stay on life support, and thats a rather meager existence for a numbered game in the final fantasy series.

I think it would be quite reasonable to give them 'up till end of summer'. As they seem to be talking about all patches within this time frame in the same breath, therefore, all related to the upcoming overhaul/content.

I would like to see these patches implemented with the promise that all the content that has been waiting on the overhaul, will come soon after.

There is a definite 'void' at present where players literally have no reason to log in. The point where this happened is different for every player but there are things to look forward to, just nothing at the moment.

I believe these patches will have the power to convince those players to log in.

By the time FFXI came to EU there was an overwhelming amount to get done and the pace, first time round, was a lot slower. Content patches were far and few between, 3 months if i remember, and there was always a promise of a full expansion on the horizon throughout. I was never ready for expansions or updates, wouldn't even read patch notes, because i was busy grinding exp or gil or doing missions ect, ect. The problem is that we are all at the 'Finish Line' waiting for that 'Time Extension!'.

I do blame SE for allowing these 'voids' to open up but they do deserve leeway and respect due to the results of the Players Poll and the earthquake.

Middle of the month at earliest. We haven't really had much communication in the past few weeks so I'm hoping they're working hard on getting it done by then.

Personally I believe the game does need more work, but what they have done so far to improve it over the last few months (since the new team took over) has been great. They already said that big list they released would be implemented before the end of the summer, which means it will go past 1.18.

I think they are doing a good job for the little time (and I'm still talking about the new team) that they have been trying to fix this game, and I'm will to give them though the summer to see what happens. Honestly, as long as the game is free no one is loosing anything anyway, except time, and if people have that much to do they can just come back and check on it now and then after updates and see if they like whats happening.

Maybe it's because I have a nice server and a really awesome LS but I enjoy playing the game because the people I play with just want to have fun and aren't so serious that every little thing is something to argue/complain about. We are just going with the flow as long as its free and seeing where it takes us.

I'll be staying after 1.18, it's not the last straw... actually if they do what they say they are going to do it actually looks like it will be the start of some excitement!
