I think this is the best way to open for any job that can bring Quelling, it allows the tank to build it's total enmity while the DD can still go all out. Most fights are much smoother this way, just too bad every DD can't Quelling Strike

While I can't say anything for MNK, DRG really don't need it unless we're AoEing at the beginning; our damage takes time to ramp up and if the tank can't handle aggro in that period of time either they're vastly undergeared (compared to DRG), targeting the wrong enemy (I don't know how many tanks I've DFed that mark enemies...then attack #2 while DPS is starting on #1...) or just doesn't know what to do. And if all else fails we have an emergency aggro dump: Evasive Jump.

Would Raging/Quelling Strikes be nice on the DRG? Of course! Is Quelling necessary as we are right now? Would be nice, but isn't a necessity...

Fair points, alot of my memories of Drg are from 1.0, and in 1.0 w/o Elusive Jump and Quelling Strikes I ran red alot, but all DDs ran red alot in 1.0. Mnk is a similar story, Brd would be if they couldn't land their most damaging hits before a tank can finish a combo, Blm would be the only job with any real hate control issues. Oh and Whm ... but that's a whole other deal.
