Please allow us to change the name of our characters

So after contacting the GMs a second time, couple months after the first request there still isn't some kind of name change service in sight. Though I won't get into much details why I wish for mine, I'll just drop the word 'ex' and let you guess the rest. There are other people in similar situations to mine and people may want to change their name like they may wish to change the appearance/cosmetics of their character.

I don't really care if I have to spend a few extra bucks for it, or if it's some kind of subscription reward may give out in the future but I'd appreciate if you would take this into consideration.

First, that is nothing a GM would be able to help with. Secondly I do believe they mentioned this would be added later on but I can see as to why they are reluctant to do so. Your name is your reputation. If they handed them out willy-nilly an Officer/Master could empty the Free Company bank and name change and stay on the same server and none would be the wiser.

If the population on your server got tired of someone trolling and being a general ass to everyone, bam name change and they can go incognito. So if they do add it I think it should cost money and have a year long cooldown at best.

Wobi, you're being ridiculous. Abuse like that would not happen anywhere near as frequently as it would have to in order to justify absurd restrictions like "year long cooldown". The vast majority of folk who make use of name change would do it because they race changed using a vial of fantasia and their name no longer matches their character. It's that simple.

My personal opinion is they should not allow name changes without first having a way to pin a player to the account for others to see. We need to have identity as a way to assist other players and the community to weed out those that behave poorly.

I pray that it doesn't happen to you then, I've seen this happen across several MMO's in my gaming history. Don't be naive, not everyone out there is nice :/
It only takes one bad egg to ruin quite a few peoples day, also several FC are stockpiling gil for upcoming housing update to there would be a lot to lose right now.

I don't remember where the link is but don't worry they said they will be adding Namingway cards to rename yourself in the near future.

The first thing that came to my mind is that RMT could change their names and get off the blacklist. Alternatively, those who have been hacked and were shouting RMT spam against their will could get a second start without having to start all over again. It really is a double-bladed sword.

There is a way: Transfer to a world where a character of your name currently exists. Since 2 players on the same world cannot have the same name, you will be forced to change your name.

They are however coming out with an item for this... Estimated release date: Probably 2.2
