Please allow us to change the name of our characters

The first thing that came to my mind is that RMT could change their names and get off the blacklist.

It's pretty clear that the blacklisted name is tied to the account, so a blacklisted person who changed their name would remain on your blacklist, just with a new name.

I could use the same logic here and say not everyone has bad intentions. Just make it so your new name replaces the old on people's blacklists and friends lists. People can already currently server transfer as a method of changing their names, so not allowing the service due to this reason is silly.

I personally want to race change and would love to change my name to match my new race. Nothing malicious about that, and the feature is pretty standard for MMOs nowadays.

I could get behind this, as long as the UI in some way still contains your old name.

Like if you examine someone, or search them or something it could say 'Formerly: Joe Bob" or something like that. That way you can't escape your reputation necessarily but you can change the name for RP reasons or for 'ex' reasons.

Either that or the OP named their character after the ex like some people do with bad tattoos.
Changing names is a serious thing online though, it's not something that should be changed as easily as a haircut.

If you could change your last name to Uchiha, odds are he wouldn't be able to tell you apart from all the other people with the last name. You'd be hiding in plain site! Just another fish in the school, or fly in the lotion!

I don't see any harm in allowing people to change their name, as long as there is a way to see what they were formerly known by. Otherwise couple with Fantasia people could do some pretty nasty things then simply reinvent themselves.

I know the vast majority wouldn't be doing this, but even if one person did it and got away with it that's too much.

Have an item to changue even the sex of your character but not your name is a failure xD

But I woud like to be able to see wich names had a player character. Or , way better , create a "Plublic account name" (Not the one we use for login) and let us see that account name.

Simple solution, add Phantasia Potion on the Mog Station you can buy with real cash and include a Name change with the potion. Make a cool down where you can only do it once per Month. Now it can't be abused that much and RMT won't use it at all.
