Race to 50

Do people take flax to 50? Do they autocraft piles of yarn and cloth, or try to HQ every material?? My eyes are burning just thinking about that. Quick math puts me at least at 2430 flax.

I did flax all the way to 50. It really depends on how many leves you got available. Linen Wedge Caps of Gathering are extremely easy to make and the mats are cheap. The only thing that might get a little annoying is the constant runs to the Observatorium to turn in the leves, however that run is also granting you bonus experience. Since you're only turning in 1 hat a time, you save a lot of money on shards (not to mention time), and you get to avoid wool and felt. Just make sure you have like 50-60 leves available... or you can do Linen Hats instead.

So I finally dived into Blacksmithing last night and came to a pretty obvious realization. Flawless Synthesis is fantastic to use to get through the first 10 levels of a craft! You one and two shot pretty much anything up to level 15, and you don't even have to improve your tools or gear to keep up.

After I get Ingenuity I and a good number of leves back, I'm either going to bounce back to Leatherworker or Weaver. The allure of Careful Synthesis II is just too strong

There are two vendors in Limsa that no one seems to realize are there.

One is the Fishmonger that you discovered, Anayrie.

The other is the vendor in the tower immediately north of the Drowning Wench/Airship/Bulwark Hall in Upper Limsa Lominsa.

People also never bother to check the guild vendors. For example, It's amazing how many people don't realize that the armorer guild vendor sells Iron Ore. Or that the Blacksmith Guild vendor sells Bronze Plates, Brass Ingots and Undyed Cotton Cloth.

However, to add to your list - the flower vendor in Gridania by the aetherite plaza sells cloves (idr what I needed them for, but it's amazing what vendors sell)... There's a vendor near the Cooking guild in LL that sells Morbol Vines (useful for alc lv 35 triple turn-in recipes)

I need to look more closely at the single turn-in leves. I got so hung up on the triplers, that I ended up with more leves than I could use. For the linen tights tripler you make 5 linen yarn, 4 of which you use to make two cloth, then finally you make the item - so it's 8 steps! Then you do it 8 more times Yes, it's a very effective use of leves, but I tihnk I'd level faster using quick synth on a single turn in; but best xp/time is probably your single HQ turn ins...

I recently got steady hands 2, which makes basic touch work 100%. So on 70 dur items I go Inner Quiet, Steady hands II (CUL 37), waste not (LTW 15), Basic touch X 4, Steady hands II (CUL 37), waste not (LTW 15), Basic touch X 4 (or whatever touch to burn my CP, or hasty touch if you don't havre the CP), and still have 30 Durability left to use Rumination (CRP 15), which gives the CP needed for Steady hands and basic synthesis 2 (at least twice), which will finish almost any craft (can also use careful synth on 70 dur items). I literally have HQ'd every 60+ dur item since I got IQ2. I had almost never used waste not before, but the Dur it saves is worth it no that I can effectively use basic touch Cross class abilities are extremely powerful for crafting =D

I did pretty much exclusive triple turn unless Shark Oil, Pudding flesh like ingredients stopped me. It wasn't just a matter of use of the leve points. I can make 10K Gil on a single point doing triple turn in and I never need to worry about the girl beside Bango Zango trying to undercut me.
