To get Tricks of the trade (lv15 ALC), I just bought 99 phials of Ether and spammed leves.
Weaver is the most slow and difficult craft to level up, that's what lots of people I know say, and what do I need? Weaver -.-
I think Weaver is long and difficult because it requires mob drops, and not gathering items (Linen is the only exception).
Then, you need leathers and skins, so LTW must play his role, and then you need feathers and reagents from gathering...
A BSM just need his raw piece of metal to smash the hell out of that, to get badass weapons (yes, there are some more complex recipes but not as many as WVR have).

Flax (Hempen stuff) and Cotton (Cotton stuff) would like a word with you ... as those are gathered (though, admittedly, it might just be simpler to buy them)

Flax is Linen, and yes, I know these exceptions, but Diremite Webs and Fleece are really hard to get, especially if you need HQ mats.
I hate all Velveteen, Woolen and Felt recipes è__é

Weave can be extremely helpful and profitable if you do it right. Not only if you do it early will you be able to make all of your crafting and gathering armor, almost all.

Totally agree, I always craft HQ crafting gear and sell it on the marketboard: this morning I found 25k gil on my retainer XD

The problem I have with Wvr (and Arm) is the 8 steps it takes to make one item to turn in; make 5 linen yarns, make 2 linen cloths, make 1 linen hat or tights... Diremite, and Wool are annoying if you want to make yourself gear (kind of a major reason to craft in the first place).

Meanwhile several professions have triple turn in items that take ONE step (Cul, Alc, Ltw, Crp), sure, the materilas are sometimes hard to come by, but most have another tripler that requires just a few steps... not 8+.

Do people take flax to 50? Do they autocraft piles of yarn and cloth, or try to HQ every material?? My eyes are burning just thinking about that. Quick math puts me at least at 2430 flax.

I did flax all the way to 50. It really depends on how many leves you got available. Linen Wedge Caps of Gathering are extremely easy to make and the mats are cheap. The only thing that might get a little annoying is the constant runs to the Observatorium to turn in the leves, however that run is also granting you bonus experience. Since you're only turning in 1 hat a time, you save a lot of money on shards (not to mention time), and you get to avoid wool and felt. Just make sure you have like 50-60 leves available... or you can do Linen Hats instead.

Hey guys, I was on the same opinion about culinary being harder but then reading through the thread and everyone's responses saying the ingredients are sold on the vendors. I do recall back when I was leveling CUL I found it to be more the difficult because of all the stuff needed and I don't want to know how much gil I spent buying fish only to find AFTER I had got Hasty Touch a NPC fish vendor

So I just want to know if there is some kind of guide that tells you where the ingredients can be purchased off NPCs? I know to level up with leves and any guide I see just seems to be saying that and which leves are repeatable and where they are, not necessarily easiest/mat cost effective.

I just got my Weaver to 50, not knowing how difficult it was and the first real crafting profession I did. So now starting to level others for their skills I want it to be as pain free as possible. Weaver nearly made me throw the towel on crafting on more than one occasion.

I didn't. But I did however use a lot Flax. I eventually did have to break down and farm diremite and still have to farm fleece too. The amounts leve quests give just isn't enough or I just wasn't doing them right.

xivdatabase shows the NPC's but maybe even better that I forgot about since it just came to Android, that new phone app Lorezean(sp?) has it also. The brief seconds I opened it, it had the NPC's locations and items they sell. It was even searchable.

But yeah, there is nothing to talk about its Weaver --> Everything Else

Even the EARLY stages, moko grass, to the yarn, to the cloth THEN finally to the ITEM....
oh wait I need 2 more cloths..which means I need 4 more yarns....but now I need 2 more yarns because the original yarns I WAS going to use I just used it to make the extra cloths.....but now I ran out of cotton balls

Thanks Legend! I completely forgot about that, I'll need to get that app for my phone.

And yeah.. Weaver made me want to give up quiet a few times. But I was just focusing on it and botanist, only got 3 or 4of the 15 skills to help. Hind sight I could of made it easier on myself, but I was a noob. Anyway hopefully now the worst is behind me lol.
