I am not one of those people that only sees things one way ... i completely understand people enjoy different things . I am in no way saying that what i enjoy is the only thing that matters however

I have played enough MMOs ( yes i am usually in the hardcore raiding guilds) to see a trend ... and that is when a game leaves end game at a stand still it usually hurts the game alot sometimes beyond repair.

I am not saying every new content patch needs to have upgraded gear ... what i am saying is they need to put SOMETHING in for people that like to progress ,to progress... whether its gear or even better a form of AA system.

One thing i can say for sure is that say 2.2 is 3 months away .... then 6 months from launch with 1 raid that can be done in 1 hour a week ... is not enough

You don't need progression, generally, but it's the only thing going for this game at the moment. That's where the real problem is. The game needs other activities that people can just enjoy.
Wait, what? You don't need progression generally, but having progression over not having it is an easy choice? What in the actual hell.

I keep seeing these people saying "YOU DONT NEED TO UPGRADE GEAR TO HAVE FUN"

i disagree i think you DO need to progress to have fun and have a reason to log in which is why i think 2.1 will really hurt this game.

I ask you guys this one question how many times a week do you log in and run Sastasha dungeon? because according to your logic you dont need to gain anything to enjoy the content and keep on running it over and over.
I'm pretty sure they did this for those who are too bad for coil.

We all know coil is done with DL+Relic but that's the only thing I can really think of.

Cuz the average-abvove average player is already almost full lvl 90 by now

Be sure and let us know once you've beaten all the Extreme Primals. They are not catering this game to the hardcore crowd, they stopped doing it in FFXI and pretty much every other MMO in existence because you don't make them all that much money compared to the larger majority of the more casual players. As I can see you still have a fair few pieces of Darklight gear on your BLM it would appear you could actually progress your character with some Crystal tower gear while you work towards that full iLVL 90 set.

I fail to see how anyone cannot grasp the benefit of the content coming out in 2.1

At some point, when the excitement stops and all that's left is monotony, you need the reward.

Shield Lob (Can change red text to Tomahawk and it will work perfectly Warriors)
    /macroicon "Shield Lob"
    /ac "Shield Lob" <t>
    /marking attack1 <t>

Better "macro switching", give it a read: http://tinyurl.com/ffxivhotbars

    I don't log in with the soul purpose of getting gear o-O; I go and level my other classes or do gathering or do whatever else I happen to be in the mood for. I actually only run things for gear or tomes when someone asks me. The content will be there it's not going anywhere so why rush and get it. I get told all the time I'm a good tank even without the darklight gear and relic weapon so I don't really worry too much on trying to gear as fast as i can D;

Maybe I'm weird but I can find tons to do in the game. There is always my obsession with collecting things as well. Minions, mounts armor sets whatever I can find something to do. ^^(though my retainers protest to this action of collecting armor)

Some days I don't feel too well so I don't feel like the pressure of trying to tank or DD in a run or level so I'll just aimlessly run about on my chocobo and see if I can find neat places to get screenshots at. I know there is also the option of RP'ing as well but that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Well congrats on fully gearing one job, but as it is the progression rate is just fine. If they added new harder content then Coil all of that IlVL90 gear would be lower-tier within one patch, so that would be three months of work to spend a couple weeks at top dog status. That sort of thing irritates people when they constantly replace the new best gear at a rate faster than people can reasonably gain it.

That is somewhat contradictory to your original post sir but I'll bite. I think the key difference in how I feel is my own progression is a small part of my enjoyment, yes I've decked out my character but whenever someone on my Coil team gets a drop or someone dings 50 on a new class I feel good because our team as a whole has improved. We are very much looking forward to the Company Housing and pimping it out, who knows there may even be bonuses from having one that affect you in game.

They're also adding multiple paths to gear up and get new weapons/gear, from my point of view that is progression.
