I think SE is doing the right thing having the great majority of content in the game accessible to everyone. How are people actually amazed that players blow through MMO content? Are we supposed to slow down? Keep paying to log in for a raid a few hours a night once a week and then either twiddle or thumbs or use the game as a glorified chat room. MMOs have been attracting players like us since EQ1. That's the draw, the whole ever-questing thing. If we wanted to play a game and put it down when we are out of content we have a sea of offline JRPGs to choose from.
I'm just surprised some people expect this one video game to be their sole entertainment in life. I find that really bizarre.
Now that you put it out there like that.. it's hard to argue any different.
Is this how most level 50's feel ? I mean.. I'm not in a End Game / FC
So my chances of even doing Turn 1 with a PUG is a crap chute. So CT will prob. be the same thing.. unless i find a good FC. But those that have done Turn 5 COIL will not need CT gear at all. So Yeah I see what your saying and What is SE solution to this ? PvP , Housing , Chocobo Raising . Will this keep people paying 15.00 a month ?
The problem is your early adopters and strongest advocates are the ones who really put their hearts into MMOs, hence them knowing a lot about the genre and being powerful word of mouth. If they go, so goes the nation. I'm sure it hurt the game somewhat when that Kripp guy bashed this game, maybe not severely, but people who follow him more than likely took his word for it. The more content pioneers you dissatisfy, the shakier your foundation will be going forward.
And there's a big stretch in logic from sole entertainment to logging in once a week to get your charity 300 myth and spend a few hours in coil. Not that I would know because I saw this storm coming and bailed before myth gear caught up to coil bosses. I wonder what kind of numbers we'll have when Sylx comes out, and the guys who have already finished the more difficult Turn 5 get to twiddle their thumbs for another half a year.
as I said, I had 36 hours of playtime last week. bite me.
again:
I KNOW how to level fast. I just don't.
repeating that I'm 'wrong' a bazillion times doesn't make it so.
I haven't played my highest combat class (my arc/brd) in 3 weeks. I am not listing all the other things one can do in this game again, since 'you guys' refuse to listen anyway.
all you think is that i'm saying you have to do these things. that is not what I'm doing. I'm just starting to get really annoyed by people thinking they are the majority. SE has the numbers. they KNOW who the majority are.
(ps: I also find it to be highly hilarious that apparently some people here think I'm saying you shouldn't ask for more 'serious' content. that is not the case either)
Because end game is what every MMORPG starts to be fun
Funny.. i had all Classes to 50 way before 1.0 shut down, i play daily and actually a good amount of hours a day.Currently on Coil Turn5 and beside that still a shitload of Stuff i can do, want to do. Don't put everyone in the same "crow'd", just because you believe there is nothing else beside grinding Instances and Coil. tyBecause there's a little thing called 1.0 that was up for 2 whole years giving plenty of time to people to level up pretty much every class and if not at least finish the rest in ARR, leaving them with only the gear and tome grind and Coils to do every Monday with nothing else to do.
If you leave out plenty of aspects of the Game, you are simply not playing the Game as well. See what i did there? There is no "correct" way to play the game beside one thing: "Enjoy the Game". If people need a couple month for one Class from 1 to 50, so be it.. it's their choice.
And no, those people are not the minority. They are the majority, which SE showed allready in the first Census a couple weeks ago. Most players did not reach even Level 50.

totally explains why you have so many people claiming this game will 'tank' because you level too quickly.
in other words, people want to take forever to reach end game AND want to have a ton of dungeons/raids (everything else is not 'end game', correct?) at the same time.
yeah... that will totally happen. (I do think that a game should be either or, but you will a) always have people complaining and b) the demographics of the typical MMO player these days kind of demands a quick leveling phase or else people leave. this is not something people who have been playing MMOs for 10+ years are easily accepting, though)

Yeah. People complain they would lose all their progress if we did a character wipe, then they complain they have too much progress and have nothing left to do. I personally am using my 1.0 character and had a few classes I hadn't leveled yet, as well as the new ACN/SMN/SCH branch to work on. Did I want to level up WAR? Not really. But I had fun doing so in 2.0 and enjoyed learning the new game mechanics. I know quite a few people who got most things to 50 in 1.0, but there are still quite a few people like me who haven't been maxing everything out yet who are overwhelmed by what is already out there. And personally, if end-game content means grinding for DL and Relic +2 gear just to participate, I probably won't be joining any time soon.
"There's a time when a man needs to fight, and a time when he needs to accept that his destiny is lost, that the ship has sailed, and that only a fool would continue. The truth is, I've always been a fool."
Says the guy who doesnt know how to play an mmo.I'm legacy, not a hardcore gamer. I cap my myth then log off. I've done T1 a few times but I don't find it at all fun dealing with the typical hardcore/min/maxers/elitests/crybabies/gearcheckers that inhabit the coil. Actually It's sort of good for the community that these people run out of stuff to do. Unless you want more GEARED/+1ONLY/EXP ONLY shouts in Mor Dhona.
Actually, this picture quite obviously devalues that opinion greatly. Look on the bottom right. This means that most of this are people havn't bothered leveling any other subjobs. Show me a graph with people with at least 1 50 compared to none and you might have something.
