Abyssea, yes - Seekers? No - The only "stupid" decision they made was not realize how much people would cry if you allow general players to progress past 3-7 year old content (Relic/Myth/Emp weapons.)
Why do these thread titles always come off as condescending?

I don't seen any population thinning on Excalibur. Just more and more people sitting around and "slumming". Most people are just waiting for the 2.1 update.

You're the rarity, not alone, but one of the few.I was playing for like 6 hours a day for the first 2-3 weeks or so after launch. Now I play for maybe 6 hours a week maximum.
Log on. Clear binding coil. Do a few dungeon runs to finish cap. Never log back on for the rest of the week. I'm sure I can't be the only one in this situation.
I was playing 12 hours a day...I still play 12 hours a day. And my FC has over 95 people (I try to keep around 100), with easily over 25 active in evenings.

Can't talk for your server, but Cactuar is still packed, people have just been spread out more, you've got people in every zone farming FATEs, people at Wineport for Coil, the markets are dense with crafters, Revenants Toll is as thick as it ever was.
No danger here.
Same over in Masamune! Like you said more spread out, but at least every zone has people in it ( endgame areas/ Crafting areas etc).
I am sure certain servers are lacking in numbers, in which I feel those servers will eventually be merged into 1 server and be called X server.
Most servers though shouldn't experience this atm.

I still get a queue when logging into Tonberry.
I still can't see Odin/Behemoth when they spawn. The server still crashes towards the tail-end of these FATE's. We still die to Zantetsuken because the melees cannot target Odin so that they can Limit Break.
I'd also say that there's so many people going around still farming WP speed runs - at least that's why I think philo mats are going for 16k/piece on Tonberry.
I hardly think the population is thinning.
pop is thinning alot, also fact that ALOT of players have left due to server problems & constant discon/lock ups etc along with CS which is none existant, SE as a company are epic fail & this game is already on a downhill slope.

Abyssea brought back more people than Seekers iirc. And since seekers the population is plummeting thanks to people not enjoying an I.Lvl scale on a game thats survived without one, enjoyably, for 11 years prior.
If FFXI players wanted an I.lv grind, they'd be on XIV or any other nameless MMO. But this is for another forum... Regardless, FFXIV is lacking content, and its sad to say the next series of content is going to be sub-Coil which means the folk who've already beat coil/Got the gear won't have much reason at all to do Crystal Tower unless its to gear a second job or for the experience once over.
If it wasn't an I.lv game, they could have some pieces in Crystal tower that were useful to the Lv90 crowd, Much like dynamis in FFXI still offering situational pieces... but with a pure I.lv game theres not much hope in that is there. It'll be DoA for the endgame crowd and, well actually provide a decent stepping stool for the middle ground, which isn't bad, and the game needs it, but depending on when the next patch is coming it could be really bad.
