I mean, there's going to be players that are like, "pphhh w/e"! Content on FFXI endgame also meant beating up hard "monstards"(dumb monsters that are hard to solo or low-man if you don't know what your doing) and build gear out of cursed items. There was options to upgrade gear too for fun! Yeah people may complain that it's a time0sink but what else are you going to do to "better yourself", huh?
There was lore to be discovered and it was also fun while upgrading/ augmenting equipment and gear. I hope this is something we can doing in groups(and maybe low-man). You know, with friends!
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!

So I heard Yoshi has sort of answered this question before? Anyone have any details on that?
Even still I think showing him that the ex-FFXI playerbase is still very interested in this type of content, might sway his decision.
When Final Fantasy 11 first came out in the USA it was not uncommon to see groups of players fighting all over the place. There were hot spots of course. But the world still seemed alive with other players working together as a team to kill monsters.Which FFXI did you play? The one I played everyone went to exp at the same places, so over 80% of the world was empty. And the moment people got the option to level faster in Abyssea, or keep partying outside, everyone moved to Abyssea because they didn't care at all about the open world. I'd be surprised if there is more than 10 people per server who are obsessed with FFXI.
My comments are meant to reflect the pre-Abyssea days. Final Fantasy 11 has dramatically changed over the years... and leveling up is nothing like it used to be. And I believe people moved to Abyssea because it was just more efficient. I don't think it had anything to do with the fact they didn't care about the open world.
And I am not "obsessed". I just miss the old days when there was an incentive to exploring the world of an MMORPG and leveling up as a group, rather just soloing everything with a few instances on the side.

I only briefly read the post but perhaps this thread should be titled: "For those who want to ask Yoshi about endgame content other than dungeons"
He gave a long and very detailed explanation on FFXI-like content for FFXIV on the beta forums, enough you could make a short novel out of it. I can't pull it up since the beta forums are down, but if someone happen to have it somewhere and like to share it. I am sure Yoshi-P doesn't feel like writing that wall of text again.
