Quoting for greater justice. So no, you can't do everything with a single character. Just most of it. There have been quite a few design choices that are baffling. They make a payment plan for alts, and then discourage against their use by making it impossible for you to utilize your assets between characters without the help of a third party. Then they implement an armory system that allows for all classes and then restrict your ability to optimally play all classes but one.
They shouldn't charge people for alts if they aren't even going to let you mule between them.
Considering most people FATE run their alt classes without doin a single dungeon with them, why should we even assume you can be competent at what you're doing on an Alt class?
Also, the game has only been out for 2.5 months. The cap on Mythology will likely get raised with 2.1 with the increase in areas and ways to obtain Mythology. A 300 Tome Limit makes sense on such few ways to obtain.
Besides we have 0 idea what material Pharos Sirius and the Hard Modes will drop or the Extreme Primals.
>.> Which is why they made everything on one character..huh? The "best" way would logically be everything on one character, but with alts what you didn't mention:
Unless you really want to spend time doing said "all access to every quest and storyline" numerous times to get caught up, you're actually sinking more time doing alts than you are just doing 1 size fits all character - which directly contradicts people in this community continually stating that time sinks = bad game design.
There are no mechanics for alts. Alts funciton exactly the same way as mains. SE has already responded to this issue and they have no intention of changing it.So I've never seen a game so hostile to people who play alt characters, I take particular issue with the inability for you to send materials from what character to the other VIA in game mail. Having to use a 3rd party to transfer materials is kinda annoying. This really needs to be changed so that your not only limited to sending mail to those on your friends list.
I honestly can't figure out how people are running out of space in this game unless they are keeping literally every piece of junk that ends up in their inventory. I haven't even half filled up my retainers, still have armory chest space, and am at like 50/100 inventory most of the time. on top of that, I have free company storage that I barely use at all- and this is with multiple jobs I play actively, as well as doing crafting often.

Funny, when somebody says that the game is unfriendly with playing multiple classes on 1 character (like with character lock for bahamut or the character cap for mythology tomestones), we hear "You should roll an alt."
Then, when someone says that the game is unfriendly with alt character (like with the moogle mail limitation), we hear "You should play all classes on 1 character."
So, which is it? Is it a game really built on 1 character or not?
Whichever answer is more convenient for defending SE's decisions at any given moment obviously.Funny, when somebody says that the game is unfriendly with playing multiple classes on 1 character (like with character lock for bahamut or the character cap for mythology tomestones), we hear "You should roll an alt."

Don't want it to take time? Did you even calculate the time it takes with the current cap to obtain the Mytho AF + relic +1 for each job (for those who want to stuff every job without alts)? 2 years and 4 months without counting the jewelry. Almost 2.5 years for an armor which will be obsolete in 4 months... Yeah, I think it's a little overkill.
I love it when you give people legit answers, calling BS on their statements, and they go into a loop of finding more words to "defend"their previous posts. I've never in my life, till now, heard that a MMO can be "not designed for alts" as that would imply some MMOs are what....? Specifically designed for alts?
Love ARR but, come on people, the senseless white-knighting is just ridiculous. I'm having great fun on my high-level alt and, sure, it's annoying that I can't mail him stuff from my main char but that's not cause the game was not designed for alts. It's because SE filled the game with mechanics that should, in theory, gimp RMT activities. What this does is, in term, gimp the players as RMT always find new ways to cheat the system. As we have seen already....
