this is not a part of thier plans from anything i remember.Good Question, For me specifically it's gear changing during combat. Being able to squeeze out that extra damage from good WS builds or maxing magic potency was a huge part of what made FFXI so addictive for me. I hope it is something that it becomes optional for players in XIV as well.

Still nothin about the bazaaring while standing still nonsense, but an immense amount of good plans there. May has been a fantastic month for news!
XI: Walton [Gilgamesh/Carbuncle]
XIV: Walton Rowe [Figaro]
well you know this is a Q and A from the battle team right? anyone expecting info other than battle, will probably be unsatisfied.
Although I'm generally very pleased at the very specific responses to all these questions, I can't help but feel certain things like removing the stamina gauge are bascially removing the last vestiges of what makes FFXIV's combat unique from other games.
No. No. No. No needing 50 different specialized peices of gear for every individual action. Gear swapping in combat is stupid, makes no sense, and is the one thing I hate most about FFXI's system. You want the ability to have tons of situational gear in a game where inventory space is a problem already without having it? No thanks.Good Question, For me specifically it's gear changing during combat.

i agree the loss of the stamina system is a bad thing, but its happening. so, no point trying to argue it.Although I'm generally very pleased at the very specific responses to all these questions, I can't help but feel certain things like removing the stamina gauge are bascially removing the last vestiges of what makes FFXIV's combat unique from other games.

Stamina was a bad gameplay mechanic that got in the way of the player doing what he wants to do. It was an arbitrary form of resource management that in function just served as a redundant function of cooldowns.
it doesnt work like cooldowns, and allows you not to be constantly attacking, but ehh its gone no real point on arguing its bonuses.
In my opinion it relegated all forms of weapons to the same speed, if say perhaps Axes did more damage but cost more stamina I would be more obliged to say it allowed some more tactile feedback.
But it didn't all it was, was auto attack with manual input. Obviously just my opinion the system could have become something different but I just don't see it how it was layed out for us.
