    It's all about priorities.
Isn't it obvious that they do not care for responsiveness or fluidity in their game?
Every UI action has lag built into it, combat mechanics have lag built into it (animation delays, skill effects applying after animation ends etc.)

SE simply does not care about this that much, control is not king here. They think people can live with it, because it is a matter of "taste". And they are right, there are plenty of clueless people, who never had better experience in mmorpg, and don't know what we are talking about. And those who do, will be back on their epic quest, to find another wow killer, soon enough. Wildstar next in line.

I think you're right to an extent. For whatever reason they seem to think that the issue can slide (likely cause there are many people still going "get better PCs/internet/skills). As it is now, it's kind of a time bomb. People are being patient and hoping it's getting fixed. Many people mistake the issue for lag itself, or think it's just them (until they come to the forums/reddit, if they ever do, and see that it's not). Eventually, people's patience will run out. They will see major patches coming out without the issue being addressed, and they will leave because every time you're out of things and see yourself get hit it's frustrating. Add to this the players in pugs, and sometimes your Free Company or Linkshell yelling at how you're bad, and players constantly telling you that you suck, and it makes for a really really shoddy game experience. It literally takes the fun out of playing.

Will enough players leave to actually kill off the game? I don't know, I think it's a valid possibility. As I've stated before I think this is the only real game-breaking issue currently in the game. I do think it will end up causing many people to quit as time progresses, and eventually someone higher up is going to have to admit there's a problem. The question is if they're going to wait until a huge chunk of players have already decided to let the game go. Have to bear in mind that a majority of people that quit aren't going to come to the forums to say why, or even to try and get the issue that caused them to quit fixed. They simply don't care enough to do it.
