This is why any future jobs need to have a new Base Class.
samurai tank would be nice.
DRK Should be a DPS that branches off from Maurader (No idea why some ppl think it will branch from gladiator, a shield and sword class.......) Give it greatswords that can be used by DRK's only. Have DRK pull from LNC and THM, (Blood for blood clearly a DRK type skill, THM for black magic obviously)
Check the post I made about it on page 4. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...57#post1538457DRK Should be a DPS that branches off from Maurader (No idea why some ppl think it will branch from gladiator, a shield and sword class.......) Another point I didn't bring up in the post, is animations. Dropping their shield and just using a 1h sword, they would not need to change any of the animations for DRK. Even though Marauders use 2h axes, they could not use 2h swords without having to change all their animations. Unless of course they make DRK use scythe, then they could probably use the same marauder 2h axe animations.

Am I the only one who doesn't care what role as long as:
1) They implement it right in game. Having it work well and be balanced
2) Is fun and interesting to play, and functions somewhat unique compared with current classes
3) Makes somebody cry because it isn't "lore friendly" or doesn't function the way they thought it should. (This is just because I like to laugh at people who get too serious)
Dark Knight is best as a tank, HUGE HP, Big Defenses, Big Weapon. :P
I am a little confused as to how the job/class system would work with them implementing new roles into the game. Will every character that is added onto mean they will be a level 50 job right from the start? I feel this is ridiculous, people won't have experience with the new class, it solves none of the problems at the lower levels, and it takes gratification out of your character. I can just see it now, "I just got my dark knight stone, who is ready for coil, i know i am?" Also, this ruins it for those who possibly just start the game as they will have no one to level up with, I know duty finder is supposed to stop this problem by allowing those who queue for lower dungeons to be synced with those levels, but honestly, who does the lower dungeons unless you are leveling? Lastly, how will we continue to enjoy our character if everything is given to us as a lvl 50 and all we are meant to do is grind for gear for the end game content, that we'll be ill-suited to play as the class, because we lack any of the practical experience.
Please tell me it will be different and i am just worried for nothing.
Finally, it seems more logical that this would branch out of the marauder class, which already has damage increasing skills and life leech abilities. As it was already stated, this would be a perfect combination for mar + thm.

I d like DRK to be a two sided dps:greatsword/scythe doing single/aoe dmg respectively
No class needs two jobs that do the same damn thing. It was a mistake in WoW with redundant specs it will be the same here. One with be "better"(Which will change patch to patch) thus making one less likely than the other.
Ok sure, I don't even care about that aspect. All I want is more interesting tank/healer classes. Right now it is so easy to look at everything and just want to play dps. With future classes it seems the same from most peoples opinions. Big guns that go boom-dps. Huge awesome swords-dps. Ninja-dps. Samurai-dps. Crazy scythes-dps. Fairy...healer..., or a dagger...Paladin. And people wonder why there is a tank shortage.
