I heard at least one report of someone getting the Insufficient gil message spam while in Dragonhead - with no market board nearby. Obviously I've no proof this really happened, but I recommend for everyone to store their cash in their retainers ASAP.

This stuff is happening to people who're logged in, while playing the game. I'm pretty sure if somebody had remote access of your computer, they'd still have to actually log in ...
Also, if it were simply someone accessing your computer, it'd be much smarter to transfer the gil via mail moogles ...

No, you can still be logged in game, but if someone has remote access to your computer, they can see what's on your screen and send keyboard and mouse input to your game window while you are afk and not paying attention.

It is easier to transfer gil through marketplace while they are in the market/by the retainer bell than to add someone to friend list, and run to the delivery moogle. I don't see how farfetched that is considering RMT have been trading gil this way through other items like the allagan pieces.

Except that's not what's happening. People are actively playing, doing things such as crafting. You can not use the market board while doing so, yet they're still getting hit by this.

No wonder I kept getting a "Insufficent gil" message earlier. Got it several times everytime I used the bell in town. I only have 250k gil on me so apparently this hack or bug will only take your money if you have millions laying around. Wow. Just wow.

This person wasn't afk and got the Insufficent gil message. He was logged in and not afk.

If we can discern a way to protect ourselves (ie. by remaining informed) we won't have to rely on SE's ham fisted attempts to protect us - even if that means the lesser of two evil's (the broken security token/app).

Any if you got that messenge even at Dragonhead. Could it mean, they have some way of cloning you and telling the server you are buying and selling stuff.

Sadly this is the type of thing going unfixed that will quickly kill fans.
People losing gil once. OK SE kind of had to do it.
People losing gil twice.. Getting pissed off.
People losing gil 3rd time. They will not put effort into the game knowing anything they do will be gone tomorrow.
