Technology has isolated us from one another in a way no one could have predicted (although I'll bet H.G. Wells or some other classic sci-fi author did at some point). Thus humanity is slowly (or quickly?) becoming almost sociopathic.
I don't know how to solve the problem other than doing my best to not be that kind of person. I fail at it sometimes, too.

EU/NA aren't really much better than koreans.
I had to survive and know my tank rotation for my mitigation CDs; it was not a carry persay. I also did it as drg and survived the whole thing. Don't scoff at things you don't understand. I know every aspect of the fight behind and infront of Titan. I would love to see you main tank it with less than 5k hp and 2 healers than come back to me. And all but one healer was pug'd.
That is because I don't die during titan, at least not until it's called a wipe. And having two very geared healers basically evens out having bad gear as a tank. I am the leader, and I can do whatever I want with my group. I guaranteed a win and got the win for the 6 others that needed it. Even the most geared people will die or not win because they do not know how to fight Titan or be selective in making PUGs. And I made a rule that if you die like 3 times in a row or just plain unexperienced, you are booted; the rules are made clear before joining. It was always a DPS or a bad healer that had to be replaced. Got it done in 3 attempts after weeding out the one bad person that died first two attempts.

There's an incredibly enlightening book on this very topic: "Alone Together" by Sherry Turkle (Psychologist and Anthropologist).
This TED conference she made is a good sum up of her ideas (subtitles in 31 languages).
“Focus on the journey, not the destination.
Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
WoW, the game this complaint is stemming from is astronomically faster paced, more accessible, and casual friendly than FFXIV, by a long shot, and elitism is arguably more rampant there than it is here. So that's obviously not the problem.
Gaming developers have turned their communities into sociopaths for their own bottom line because Blizzard showed the world how much of a cash cow this model is. This is why you didn't see this behavior in the "glory days".

shit, i think ill log on and help people out myself.. that story was kinda sad.
oh crap i cried reading that.
Can you chill out a bit? I realize being a leader means you have responsibilities, but leading also means setting an example for the people who are with you. If you only worry about what you perceive to be your group's best interests, you'll damage your community, and your own group in the long run.
Setting up an artificial barrier to entry does nothing for the community. Think of what you're creating. You're giving people essentially 4 choices.
1. I am not experienced and cannot join your group.
2. I am not experienced and will lie to join your group
3. I am experienced and will not join your group because I don't want to be pressured in case I accidentally make a mistake
4. I am experienced and will join your group, but your shout makes it so I am judged by a random standard (how OP I am)
Yes, if something is really hard (which speed runs are really not btw) set up expectations, make people accountable, but to things you can measure. What is OP? Can I eat it?
I wanted to make a snarky comment about how Titan HM for tanks is just a gear check, and they just have to sit there in 1 spot while maybe popping a cd every MB if they feel like it... But ultimately probably against the better interest of the thread

Behold: the power of Nuclear Fusion (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/1578266/blog/546323/)
Dude, i tanked that shit on a WAR, as a new - non legacy - player on his first job; but this didnt give me the rights to be an elitist ass.
I have both WAR and PLD at 50 and you know what? Tanking Titan on PLD = easy mode, no matter your HP and your gear.
And lets not pretend Titan is difficult on us tank, we use cooldowns, we take 4 steps to avoid explosions and thats it: not a big deal if the healers are doing their job.
Now go hide behind your shield, mr. high standards, average players arent entitled to brag
