Lolz, you're just another ignorant "PC master race" guy aren't you?
It was such a big mistake that nearly half(about 1/3 -1/2) the playerbase for the game is on the PS3. Yeah, it was such a terrible idea for Square to actually deliver on what they had promised for 1.0, but couldn't do because the game flopped hard.
Oh and while we're at it, FFXI was a big mistake for PS2, cause we totally didn't need that game to ever exist.
Not to dispute your point, but please provide source for playerbase demographics.Lolz, you're just another ignorant "PC master race" guy aren't you?

a lot of ui option was not put in the game, because of the ps3 memory limitation. i highly doubt they will put people on make a different ui for the PC users. like said by someone before me, it will lead that people will consider the pc version like the best version and they don't want to let the ps3 user down.
that said, i highly doubt the game can continue to support ps3 for ages, they will need at some time to drop the ps3 version, why? because each add of content will push the ps3 to the maximum until not be able to support it. (remember skyrim: dawnguard on ps3?)
and that why they have make that account from ps3 version = ps4 version, means they already plan to pass the game from ps3 to ps4 to some point. (i hope it seriously)
before troll me, i will simply say this, with each patch, they plan to add content and item, but we will surely don't get more space for store item, i'm sure crafter are already have space trouble, same for legacy player with every class to 50.... a simple example, people that love collect item and keep weapon or armor. you do have 5 weapon, (ifrit, garuda, titan, allagan and relic) 6 if you have already mog weapon, for 9 combat/mage class, leading to 45/54 weapon that take place in the storage.
with each add of class this number will increase. (and we don't count armor)
the question is, do we must choice to keep item or not because they have decide to launch the game, and support it, on a plateform old of 7 years? (out since 11 nov 2006 in japan)
a plateform that will not evolve or change...
do they only plan to keep the game evolving for only a couple of year before the limitation will hit really hard the game?
do they plan to let the game root and not evolve fast enough for keep it playerbase?
or do they plan sooner or later to drop the ps3 for focus on the ps4 and pc?
i highly hope is the last one.

We're getting UI mods next year which will be PC only... any hope of the PS3 version remaining on equal footing with the PC version then will be laughable.
To those trying to suggest this memory issue is UI only though... keep dreaming. FFXI infamously was denied new jobs simply because the PS2 couldn't handle loading more than a certain number of jobs into memory at once. The same or similar will eventually happen here with full game content being denied to the PC and PS4 players simply because the PS3 couldn't handle it. I'm honestly hoping that SE plans to phase out PS3 support a year or so after the PS4 releases...
You mean stuff like fully customizable hotbars? Multi tab chat function? Focus targeting? Mouse over capability? OMG if they give PC players those things and don't give them to the PS3 players this game will surely crash and burn!
People saying that are replying to his original post. Which is talking about the UI. Everything else is speculation. Unless you have an official statement stating what will be effected. We're getting UI mods next year which will be PC only... any hope of the PS3 version remaining on equal footing with the PC version then will be laughable.

the big mistake is releasing an mmo on a console period imo
mmo's are massive games that adapt rapidly over time and while we can upgrade our computers constantly to keep specs up to par a new console only comes out every so many years which has the potential of holding games up a bit. You can scream that consoles are just as good but in reality they do have many more limits and most console players scream bloody murder if they are at a disadvantage because that is what they play on. Its a no win situation if you release an mmo on both platforms. Don't get me wrong I love my consoles and my console games but there is no way I would play an mmo on one.
