That was if you played it as /WHM. I stopped in 2009 but up til then I was always a /sam melee smn. Constantly attacking to use Spirit Taker and refill MP while rotating through 3 diff summons to BP: Rage/Ward. Best part about it was there was no resting to refil mp. It was insanely fun in endgame. If you played it as a gimped whm you would feel like a gimped whm. When you actually used the job as a summoner it was a very fun high burst damage/buffing class that required a lot of action on your part.

In a real scenario, you never used SMN as a SMN besides once a minute for Titan AoE Stoneskin, or Garuda AoE blink.

My damage was only a bit below other DD classes due to constant melee and 400 dmg spirit takers combined with predator claws and other BPs and I was keeping up hastega, stoneskin, and one other buff (usually fenrir's depending on moon phase) at the same time. Not exactly a drain on pt....
I'm guessing you only played /whm. It did take quite a while to convince people to let me in pt's but once people saw what the job was capable of they liked it. /whm was easy mode with low results. My point is now instead of melee with sprit taker we have DoT's with aetherflow, and energy drain. Class isn't far off.

I quit Xi in 2004 so correcte if I m wrong but smns were almost completely worthless. Everything about them was sub par whether that be healing or being a dd. If I have been reading your posts right you want to return to this. You make my brain hurt sir.
