This is a difficult subject for me. I've never considered myself elitest per se but I can get a bit belligerent when people can't even perform basic job functions. I'm certainly one that thinks games and gaming in general have become far too serious. Gaming has become skewed more towards competitiveness and less towards fun now-a-days and that's a shame. I've personally turned down multiple opportunities to participate in professional gaming because I think It defeats the purpose of gaming.
Gaming is, at its core, supposed to be about fun. However, when you're playing multiplayer games you can and, whether you like it or not, probably are effecting someone else's fun. Maybe it's fun for you to wear level 20-30 gear into a level 50 dungeon. Maybe it's fun for you to completely ignore all those other mobs beating the living tar out of the rest of your party while you tank that one mob. Maybe it's fun for you to DPS rather than heal your tank. Maybe it's fun for you to be a WAR and not spend any points in VIT because you think VIT is stupid and would rather beef up your STR thus leaving you with 3900HP at level 50 even with AF-Amdapor Keep armor... The problem with those things, and many others that I did not bother to touch on, is that you're directly effecting MY and everyone else's fun. It's not fun for me to be trying my hardest to help you clear a dungeon and gear up only for you to not give two doodles about playing your part. Ignorance and actively ignoring are two totally different things. I'm willing to take my personal time to teach you but if you're unwilling or so totally incapable of learning then I'd rather not waste my time or my money. I pay to play this game, same as you
On another note, can someone PLEASE explain to me what is fun about dying repeatedly to things and not progressing? How is that fun for anyone? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm genuinely looking for some perspective. It's like when I play shooter games and I see people get three kills and die twenty-nine times... How much fun can you possibly be having when you're really not even playing?...
