The whole foundation of MMOs is Multiplayer, hence why it's in the name. Still not an excuse for acting like an elitist shit with a god complex and bullying others. Devs are never going to be responsible for how other people act in a game, I don't care how it's set up.
I'm the complete opposite. It was the harsh words and ridicule that made me into a better player.
I learned quickly that being sensitive and needy in an online gaming community will get you ignored, and that my best option was to do the legwork myself(thanks google)
I'd also like to point out that Blizzard updated their main site with a lot of "noob" friendly knowledge to help get players started. A list of simple tips and informative guides for players that are new to the MMO genre. This is only a small step, but one that was not available to me when I first started.
I believe the best thing any vet player could do for a new player, is to teach how to use wiki/data sites. Instead of holding their hand through it all, show them how to do it themselves.
Omg I almost cried.
That was one of the reasons I never could get into wow after my FFXI days were over. I started fresh in Rift and found a community to help me and nurture me in a way that made me a great player today.
People really do forget that there are people behind these characters who are probably trying to get away from their real life problems.
It would be horrible if your safe haven or escape from real life was as bad as your real life. I feel for the guy a lot![]()
I've seen this already a lot in this game. Mainly coming from "gear" elitists. It just has to stop.
OMG! that sounded like it would have been a blast, and Yes, that is exactly the type of group i would love to learn coil with...sadly i am on Bamung...
Did you miss the entire part where it mentioned he was elderly and using this game to escape RL for the little time he played? As for having learning difficulties, I am 34 years old, graduated top in my class and college educated. 6 years ago i was hit by a drunk driver, barely survived and was in a coma for over a month. I had to relearn a lot of things. So yes, telling me to read something, a dyslexic that suffered a traumatic brain injury, yes, you can say i have a learning disability. I put myself in situations where i may not be the best skilled, but i do that to learn, and occasionally, i will find someone that isnt a complete f**ktard and will give me a piece of advice, and everything i have learned i still use and have improved myself. But yeah..maybe I shouldnt play huh?

How I see the new abilities:
Asylum - Get ready for my holy spam because that's the only healing you gonna get.
Aero III - I guess I should put some dots up before holy spamming.
Assize - I need more MP to spam holy even more, also stop getting hit in the face.
Tetragrammaton - I guess I should heal that tank now.
Stone III - There's less than 3 mobs left alive. - Ragns Meuhie
It's half and half. The developers bear the brunt of the blame because it is they who decide how to structure the game, rewards, difficulty and other aspects of design. The community is also partly responsible for being absolute dipshits when it comes to things like this, but the former precipitates behaviours exhibited by the latter.
If I create an environment where the content is "difficult" (as in, "contrived removal of whatever powers and abilities you have accumulated if it doesn't meet the arbitrary boundaru set by me"), with materials/reagents/items that are lost upon triggering the content and have to be refarmed if you fail and have to do it again, I just created the perfect conditions to breed elitism. and if I tied this content to key storylines or other things that might actually matter to those who like the lore and world in-game, then I created elitism out of necessity rather than as part of the progression treadmill.
Player A can become an asshole to those who choose "subpar" set ups that don't absolutely guarantee success and I would still carry part of the blame, as it was my design that precipitated Player A behaving like an ass to his fellow players. Other factors might have also caused him to behave like an ass (say, if I created a bunch of bear that cost a lot of a certain currency that can only be gotten from running dungeons ad nauseum, causing Player A to want optimal groups to run said dungeons as quickly as possible), but the reaction then crosses the threshold from developer fault to player fault.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Cute story, and can understand the feels.
But I honestly think this guy must be a bit of a special case.
Possibly has learning difficulties or something.
Because he said people had linked him to guides and he just didn't understand them.
even my computer illiterate mother understands stuff if she's following a guide.
My first game as a kid was legend of zelda link to the past, I had no guides or anything, but managed to complete it eventually.
I think perhaps what this guy needs more than video games is.. I dunno.. an education?

It is fun,you play the game for fun so why do you care how many times you die.Your going to progress eventually whats the rush? Shooter 3-29 means nothing when your playing with friends.its fn because you playing with people who enjoy the game and dont take it serious.even alone if you enjoy it why do you care about kdOn another note, can someone PLEASE explain to me what is fun about dying repeatedly to things and not progressing? How is that fun for anyone? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm genuinely looking for some perspective. It's like when I play shooter games and I see people get three kills and die twenty-nine times... How much fun can you possibly be having when you're really not even playing?...
Nothing sad about being on Balmung, there's plenty people there that do stuff that makes no sense just for the fun of it![]()
So he isn't allowed to play because he needs more of an education? Maybe he just didn't grow up with computers? Maybe because you've seen most of those guides, how they shorten everything with acronyms and post formulas, like elitistjerks.com did which was at one time (back when I played) the premier theorycrafting site. I honestly think you're a special case, and what you probably need more than video games is a personality. Again, like other people, you're just projecting what you think on others. Pathetic. But I honestly think this guy must be a bit of a special case.
