    The OP is just nostalgic and ignorant. FFXI was about forming a 6 man party and getting 4k an hour and maybe getting 1 level per weekend. Until SE made it easier.

    Form a group in FFXIV and chain monsters and it will be better than FFXI exp rate. The only complaint I see is that it isn't BEST. And where would we be if doing a dungeon was best exp, doing a fate was best exp, and partying was best exp and soloing was best exp?`Because that is what the players keep requesting. "GIVE ME BEST EXP".

    XI changed a lot over the years most of the above comments against 11 are moot and outdated but any game that has a life span of 11 years and more to come is ok in my book.

    Lol I love this thread. You can really see that FFXIV is a conglomerate of old veterans and a ton of noobs to MMORPGs in general. The hardcore players in this thread are clearly shown supporting an FFXI based game

    The only things I agree with from the OP:

    Gear with ability stats boosts on it. - Yes, please. Preferably useful ability boosts.

    Lockout areas - Never a bad idea unless you're a super casual. In which case you really shouldn't be playing MMOs to begin with since you'd obviously lack the time to commit to really playing it.

    Community - Eh.. it is there. There are non serious FC/LS out there, hell I'm in one but I still am wanting to do Coil and other future End Game things, and will. As for the community being like XI, that seems to be a thing of the past simply built on the way things are now and how XI was pretty much impossible to progress through by yourself. Again.. that really isn't a bad thing (about XI) this is an MMO so we should be wanting to do things with a large number of other players, more than just zerging FATEs.

    Skillchains - Yes, yes, yes! While I don't dislike the way the LB system works, it's no where near as interesting, intricate, and multi-player friendly as the Skillchain system was. Combining two player's weaponskills to create additional damage that could then be bursted by anyone with the corresponding elemental magic of the skillchain? Man, that was a great system. The building TP aspect was a bit tedious, but actually linking two weaponskills and creating the skillchains was so fun. It was almost always enjoyable to be with a group that successfully utilized skillchains and being a part making them happen was quite fun. Don't even get me started on Samurai.. solo skill chains. Enough said. This is definitely something I wish we could do in XIV. Basically I would just love to be able to see two players use abilities in combination to create a new attack.

    Would it require teamwork, coordination and communication? You bet! Those are some things this game does need more of.

    I won't disagree overall, but so is ARR except it is more of a a standing still/talking half a step backwards. The whole MMO genre has been stagnant ever since WoW came out just because every developer wanted what WoW had whilst retention numbers of those games show it wasn't what gamers wanted. People compare every new game to WoW yes because of the quality, not because of every mechanic or systems philosophy Blizzard had. Thank god for EQN and Titan, finally we might actually get games that take the genre forward again.

    Not to mention just because some things are bad from other games doesn't mean that everything is bad. XI has some good systems just as every other game does.

    4. Most gear in 11 didn't have lasting power it just had the best stats in one spot this just means you need to keep 10-20 items in your bags just so you can macro them in e.g monk gloves macro in everytime i use boost and macroed out to my attack gloves this isn't fun it's just taking up more space
    5. Most af in 11 could be gotten in under 30 mins if you had luck I rather not have me going down into area a to kill 500 monster to get a key then go into area b and hope noone has opened the chest
    6. 2 hours no I don't like having a move on a 2 hour cd, sky/sea quests were really easy to do if you keeped the gear you leveled in and skillchains sure

    That's how i feel i played 11 for 5 years beat all of Normal Dynamis didn't care for the gear in dreamworld, beat most of Limbus didn't fight the last 3 bosses on my char, beat sky/sea, beat most of skys nms never did sea, beat floor 99 Nyzul Isle so to me no thanks
