Make FFXIV more like FFXI and less like WoW

All we was asking for was Long Lasting Content/Gear, making Endgame also a part of the crafters, add open world Encounters w/o horrible lockouts and real Alliance FC/LS Endgame Content. All this Ideas if SE would bring them into the game wouldnt hurt any casual base or singleplayer MMO Players. No one said anything that it have to overwrite the current System, it only has to be added as optional part for the XI,Hardcore Community.

Most of the Arguments against our wishes and ideas, involving the Numbers of Sold Copies and the 600k subbings, not more not less. The past showed us that there is no place for WoW-Clones out there and aslong they dont offer more Variation and something Special it wont last against Blizzards mothership also known World of Warcraft. ARR still has Server issues (lag, erros, etc) has nothing to offer for the People they have all Classes they want on max. Level besides the fact that we sit in town or mor dhona and hit the Party finder Button or Duty finder button or having a static and they are done on tuesday with the game? In the current state of this game not much People are at this Point, but there will be more for sure and new instanced Primal battles, another BCOB Turn(s) and a vanity System wont Change anything at all within the next 3 Month and Games like ARR wont have time to envolve anymore, wildstar is coming out soon and the new WoW Expansion will be released, not to mention some other titels they are more different to ARR and WoW (also known as sandbox games).

you aren't necessarily wrong, but I love the argument of "you better watch out SE, other games are coming out!". I don't really see how this will have a huge impact on the game as a whole (I understand that people will leave yadayadayada) but the game will be fine with a core of players that you know, actually like the game.

People seem to forget that they already screwed this thing up once before. They listened to what MOST of the players wanted and added some stuff in 2.1. The game isn't perfect and it doesn't cater to everyone but then again neither did XI, WoW, Rift, Aion, LOTRO, EVE. All of those games still have people playing, all of those games have casuals and hardcores, and all of them have the most important thing which is people that love the game for what it is and continue to play it for that reason.

I agree with #4, gear with set bonuses or some special bonus to an ability is always fun.

The rest....well, there's a reason why WoW is the 800lb gorilla in the room and FFXI isn't. Many of the things you look back on with rose tinted glasses players now would not stand for.

Call it dumbing down or streamlining or whatever, the point is that its not gonna happen because the majority of players don't want that.

Game just came out recently. I like how the developers are working hard to fix all the bugs first. Don't forget the first content patch is coming out soon. Some of the elements in FFXI will be here but there will be elements from other games too to try to make the game unique in its own way. Just give the game some time.

#4 is good, but since WoW also has set bonuses on pretty much all their gear, it defeats the purpose of the thread.
