This +1. I rarely hear a dps berating a tank, since the tank can leave and get a instant que while the DPS would have to eat a 45 minute + wait. Even if the tank was terribad.

It also doesn't work out well when the tank completely ignores advice and is a general jerk.

Things I usually ask a tank to do/say to the tank:

1. Please mark the targets (when I notice every dps is swinging at a different mob after the first)
2. (If for some reason the fight ended prematurely and he still has regen on) Please cancel your regen by right clicking so I don't get hate on the next pull
3. I notice you have a i20 weapon when you're level 34. You can get a cheap replacement for less than 1k gil in the auction house.
4. You're level 35 and still Gladiator/Warrior. Do you need assistance / information on how to become a paladin/warrior?

And the usual response from the tank is "STFU NUB".

Yes, that's how I state it. I did, however, generalize their response. You also get "DON'T TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB", and "YOU SHOULD ALL KNOW WHAT TO ATTACK, NUMBERING IS FOR NOOBS".

However, I'll usually use more casual lingo; example: You don't have warrior/pal, do you know how or need halp?

Since this happens on almost a daily occurrence I'll screen shot next time for posterity (considering this thread is still around).

I can't speak for if he/she really says that, but they are the sort of responses I get too. When I once asked a tank to mark the targets (and yes I said please) he said I must have downs syndrome if I can't tell the targets apart.

And considering the OP's line "DPS 1: Another noob tank lol go back to Africa (I made that Africa thing up, but he was probably a racist so it's fair)" These sort of bizarre unnecessary insults seem to be a trend.

my first comment on bad/stupid dps, since i tank ofte, i let them die if they do stupid stuff, like intentionally pull agro at start and on trash mobs. if they wanna feel accomplished, i let them do it from the seat of the ground, i maintain enough threat to keep mobs off the healer(unless they do the famous medica 2 spam)

but i do agree, some people are just so stupid, people ask for help (this happened to me the first time i did WP) and they ignore the question or chat log, but complain the second its not done "their way"

now a days i just screw with people, i will go into AK with an i50 weapon and pld af and claim im new, watch them leave, then pop on my relic and full DL and queue for new people

I am a career tank and a mmo vet in general so, Im taking to paladin like a fish to water. And, it may be because im not 50 yet, but I've had little trouble with AOE hate*.

My time so far in IV has been good, I have yet to be told off and have had generally pleasant groups, and only rarely annoyed by the DD who cant follow target markers. I, also have never done any forehand strat research of any story/lower level dungeons, and always just ask the party if anyone knows the strat before the boss. So far I've been lucky, because not one person has rebuked me, and I get the info I need with no fuss.

[note to the OPer] I really enjoyed the OP. It feels sort of like a straight version of Hunter S. Tompson's gonzo writing, Good stuff. Looking forward to more like it!

*(Shield lob/mark the first mob, Flash, to grab the rest-good for a few seconds so you can lock down the first mob with a RoH. Then, its a matter of cycling RoH on to the other mobs, repeat. Works like a charm so far.)

While healing AK the other day, I had a tank that wasn't dodging Void Thunder III from the Soulflayer. I said, word for word, "You can dodge Void Thunder if you didn't know" and the response I got was "Meh." I then continued and said "It would make it easier on me (as healer) if you dodge it because I'm having to spam cures to keep everyone up atm. You also have sword oath up, btw." and he started getting defensive saying he might use shield oath if I would start nuking. to avoid any confusion, sword oath is fine in my book as long as you know how to dodge unnecessary damage. It went on from there, but my point is that no matter how nice you think you are being, a lot of gamers can't see advice as anything but criticism. I was honestly offering him a piece of information I thought he didn't have because he wasn't taking advantage of it, but he didn't view it that way.

Sadly it all just comes down to the impatience of people. Especially when in DF. I know the ball can swing both ways when dealing with others and I'll be the first to admit I never played a tank class. I'm just the WHM keeping people alive. At least from my little perspective most of my problems have been a result of that same impatience, especially in tanks.

While most have simply been a pleasure to heal for and party with it goes without saying quite a few are impatient, run forward before I can even buff them. Agro 3-5 monster groups and then want to yell at me because I can't keep them alive.

It's more or less a simple matter of being civil and respecting others play styles. Especially in DF, keep civil, do the dungeon as normal and save all the little tricks and speed runs outside DF and with your statics, FC's or LS's
