Regarding the PlayStation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011.
Thats exactly what I stated in my other thread and I dont care if you dont think the devs are reading my post lol. What? no. Please no. I want a successful launch and this wouldn't qualify. Not that I think the devs are listening to you but I just think its premature releasing now and they know this. My guess is by the end of the summer, we will supposedly have everything outlined in Producer Letter X, at which point tweaks will follow and the addition of more periodic content leading up to November which is my guess as to when they'll be releasing PS3 version. THAT or they announce soon that PS3 version is coming at the end of the summer but that would put so much stress on the dev team I don't see it happening. Definitely this year though, without a doubt, in time for the holidays.
My problem is that I am watching would be players lose faith in ever playing this game. It's not their fault they were promised a PS3 release. If the game gets much better before a large audience can access it I feel it will only anger the would be players more. At some point it needs to be released and continued to be developed upon.
I don't the devs are going to release it because you're saying it should be released, I was just saying it would be premature at this point, I'm sure they're not going to rush it out again only to see it fail again. Its kind of sad to think how many people were playing this game at launch and how many people are playing it today - would be a hell of a lot more fun if we had full servers today and I want the PS3 to help do that.
Games get pushed back all the time, everyone always sticks with them.My problem is that I am watching would be players lose faith in ever playing this game. after summer is the best bet, there will be alot of thing add and fix until summer of 2011 (according to the letter X)
I imagine that PS3 release with come with the first major content expansion and first level cap increase. Similar to the ps2 release for xi. I hope they do this because i think it will be their last chance to capture a strong sustainable player base. If they mess up the ps3 release then it will be a difficult future.
That's how I feel also but I am afraid that 1.18 is their first chance to impress on the player base that there is a chance of this game improving vastly. The first expansion in a sense is the actual game in XIV's case I feel. They need to get this out to more ppl as soon as possible. Too many suggestions on the forums here to fix them all before release. Best they finish that chart of yoshi's and release it summer or I am positive you will be right about capturing a new sustainable audience with an older game that they are already well behind in. Also the influx of new money from game purchases wouldn't hurt the development speed I don't believe.I imagine that PS3 release with come with the first major content expansion and first level cap increase.
